Switchfoot concert

I went to it last night. I don't know if I'm just getting old, but do they really need to have the sound turned up that loud? It sure takes away from the enjoyment of the concert, especially the opening act. Overall, though, I thoroughly enjoyed Switchfoot--great music, great musicians, and some good interaction with the crowd. They played every song from the new album and then got into several oldies, including Stars--that one really got the crowd rocking.

What I found interesting was that the concert was put on by a non-Christian radio station but since it was also mentioned on the Christian one, there was quite the mix of people. From a Christian standpoint, their new album is very Christian and it makes me wonder if the non-Christians really clue in to the lyrics. I just find it interesting, that's all. It was an all-ages show but someone even brought a baby.

If any get the chance to go, definitely do it, but do the baby a favor and leave him/her with a sitter.

a heavily secular radio station plays switchfoot. This station plays marylin manson all manner of vile music. So switchfoot is reaching out to the lost in areas that only the Lord could send them.

Yeah, my boss streams radio while working and doesn't realize some of the bands on that stream are Christian--Red, Anberlin, Skillet, and Mutemath are the ones I have happened to hear while in his office.

My head never made it in since I was hanging close to the back.

I wish I could go to a Switchfoot concert, but I dunno when they're next coming out. I love their new album, and it seems more "Christian" than Oh Gravity! which lyrically I found a little disappointing.
I'll check their tour dates of their website now, acutally, but it will probably be in vein. Again. :wall.

I think it's great that Switchfoot can reach out to those secular parts of society; they seem to be able to do that really well.

You need to be more bold in the mosh, Free! :lol

I just went to a switchfoot concert last night. It was AWESOME! Good interaction with the crowd, loud but not too loud, and plus they sound really great live. I'll post some photos soon. :)

That's fantastic that you got to go! :thumb Yeah, they put on a really good show. Can't wait to see some pics.

This is encouraging. I haven't heard Switchfoot lately, unless I have but didn't know it was them. I saw them about 3 years ago with Third Day. I found them very vanilla in their message, even to a Christian crowd. They didn't talk about their faith in between songs, and their songs weren't outright Christian. Their presence in a Christian perspective was very weak. Maybe they just had some "stage presence" to grow in. But I didn't find them very moving at all, especially when contrasted with Third Day. I wondered by Third Day even had them open for them at all. It would be good to know they have moved the message in their music and the live delivery of it since I last saw them.

It sounds like they have improved their stage presence since you saw them. It was very encouraging. I'd say that if they're touring nearby you should try and see them again. It was truely a great concert.

I've uploaded some photos, here: http://picasaweb.google.com/nevery29/SwitchfootConcert#
They're pretty bad quality as I forgot my digital camera so I had to make do with my 2 megapixel phone camera. But oh well.
