ONLY when Eph 2:8,9 is applied. Not accepting it is the "Unforgivable SIN.

What was the temptation that befell Adam?

It's right in the passage - to be like GOD. Adam's lust, and satan's "enticement" (James 1).
 
I ain't Catholic, but I have noticed they're not always wrong about things:

16If you see any brother or sister commit a sin that does not lead to death, you should pray and God will give them life. I refer to those whose sin does not lead to death. There is a sin that leads to death. I am not saying that you should pray about that. 17All wrongdoing is sin, and there is sin that does not lead to death. - 1 John 5:16-17

SO - since you're supposed to KNOW which sin "leads not unto death" - what is it??

My son is a Biblical scholar and he said the only unforgivable sin is to blaspheme the Holy Spirit. Could you research this for me?

For those in Christ Jesus it is all other sins outside of the sin that leads to death, blasphemy of the Spirit (willful unbelief).
