Secular in the prospect of religious crisis?
the government on the us was never founded to be a Christian theocracy after 1797.
per the first amendment.

congress shall pass no law establish a state religion, or denying the right to practice any religion, the freedom of peaceful assemble , to petition, to address grievance shall not be infringed upon

we don't have church representatives in the congress unlike the house of lords and commons in the uk
 
When you visit CNN or BBC Facebook pages and read stuff on ISIS you will be amazed that America is viewd as (by some angry posters): those Christians who spend all their energy attacking Islamic nation. Point is, they label America Christian. Perhaps for religious issues

Actually they are against the western life style. Our belief in individual freedom threatens their extremist views.
They believe that their religion and their god is the correct one for the world to worship and so they have decided that they will force the world to comply.
Frankly some extreme Christians aren't much better than the ISIS. What would these kinds of Christians do if they could control the country? This is why the founders of the USA wrote what they wrote into our Constitution.
Power corrupts, sometimes the best of people with the best intentions.

The idea is not about Christians as individuals but as a country as a whole.

Yup, they had to stop the burning people at the stake, etc. that some had brought with them from England and the surrounding areas.
Don't believe in God the way I do then burn them!
 
I don't consider it great, nor Christian. It's part of an ancient hope put together by deists and Freemasons. The Federal Reserve is only a fake economy to enslave us. The CFR spoon-feeds us propaganda on the news stations, all of which are connected to each other.

Should then go with the idea (said by a poster here) that US is a Secular country?

This government was not set up to accommodate any particular religion. But was set up on moral values that can be found in God's word.
"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."

I do wonder sometimes if all of them really believed what they wrote. Some of them bought and sold slaves and some of them allowed the Native Americas and black slaves to be treated as animals.

times of the era that they were raised in.king david and many men of faith had slaves. ie Abraham. its not that the bible condoned that just that it was what was around then.
 
The US is not a theocracy of course, but we do have a majority of people that at least profess that they are Christians. I have heard 80% say they are a Christian and while I doubt that all of them truly are, I would still say that the US has the largest population of Christians than any other country.

The percentage of Christians in the U.S. doesn't determine whether the country is christian or not. :nono
 
Maybe some Christian concepts still influence things, maybe a bit more than in Canada or Europe, but...nah, not a Christian country.

Its pretty wierd isnt it? At almost every turn, even these concepts were warped from day one. Of course the politician of any era isnt going to be able to see it, they just do things that sound good to further themselves. Most things get called Godly that are anything but.

America is Christian, however, in terms of the underlying principles of culture and government philosophy. Our founding fathers were entirely creatures of the Judeo/Christian traditions formed over hundreds of years. Dignity of the individual, protection of minority rights, subsidiarity in social and government organization, etc. all come directly out of the Judeo/Christian traditions.

We've never been perfect in living up to our principles and values, but that doesn't diminish the principles and values themselves, it just means we're imperfect creatures. As a culture, we have grown more secular and suspicious of Christian values over time, until today we're beginning to see outright hostility to Christianity.

Do you think that some of the hostility is what we have brought on ourselves? Do we try to Force free citizens to conform to what we believe is correct?
I know if some Muslim or even Jews tried to force me to accept their beliefs by criticizing me and my beliefs and trying to force me to live by their rules, I would resent it and fight it tooth and nail.

Yes, I do, Deborah. Some Christians, with good intentions, interpret spreading the Gospel to mean haranguing. We can sometimes be too strident, shrill, and arrogant.
