The Apple

Was the "apple" concept popular before "Sleeping Beauty" was written? The author of that tale used an apple.

Then there were the golden apples in Greek mythology...... used in several different tales, as I recall.

Mr. Alfred E Newman :lol

What's so funny?

Bananas develop parthenocarpically . We humans speed things along by grafting "pups" (cuttings). but the fruit still develops parthenocarpically (without sexuality or seeds)
Not likely it was a banana.

The trees in the garden were one of a kind, so logic tells "me" the fruit from these trees were one of kind also.

When the trees disappeared, so did the fruit.
.
Well, maybe that's true, but the Tree of LIfe in the Book of Revelation says it produces 12 different fruits, one each month.
And the Tree of Life was in the Garden of Eden.
But then again, God said he will make "everything new".

I can not think of a fruit that does not have seeds.

Some grapes are seedless, as are most commercially grown cucumbers. But to even things out, pomegranates are pretty much nothing but seeds.

The TOG

But bananas do. And no seeds.

Nope not a banana not a watermelon, this came to me when preparing to eat an apple.. :stupid

I'm not sure if it was Jasher or Enoch, but one of these books said that forbidden fruit was grapes, or similar to them.

parthenocarpically

Huh? The who what? lol. :lol

I hadda look that one up. :confused

This thread could fit nicely into the "Once Upon A Time" thread :lol

bananas don't have seeds. if you bury them, they wont produce a tree. they did do have seeds that could be germinated but we bred that trait out.

Maybe we are thinking this in our lowly human minds.

I don't know if this has anything to do with the answer TOB has in mind, but I once read that the part of the Apple that we eat is not fruit. It is bark. I think the inner-most part where the seeds are (core) is considered fruit.
