The Bible Writers on Homosexuality

All of the Bible writers who comment on homosexuality say that it is a sin. My own contention is that no two men would want to marry each other unless they were already having sex. (You might remember that sex before marriage is a sin.) If people refrained from having sex before they married, there would be no homosexuality.

In Leviticus sex with the same gender is considered an abomination ( actual wording). Romans was Paul pointing out that sex with the same gender, with the opposite gender, with animals, in a group, etc. was against God. So the Bible said all sexuality is sinful. OR to be more accurate, sex is bad unless its fro baby making. Considering Paul's ideas on marriage as well ( discouraged). It shows that Paul didn't care much for sex in general.

Well this could be also spun right back around and shown that Two Women and a Man and a Women would fit this exact scenario. So your statement sounds like there would be no marriage without sex in general. Which we know is not the case.

If people refrained from having sex before they married, there would be no homosexuality.
No. People would still be attracted to the same gender, so homosexuality would still be there. You just wouldn't have people having sex.

So the Bible said all sexuality is sinful. OR to be more accurate, sex is bad unless its fro baby making.

Nowhere does the bible say that all sexuality is sinfur or that sex is bad unless it's for baby making.

What the bible does say about sex between a man and a wife is this:

The husband must fulfill his duty to his wife, and likewise also the wife to her husband. The wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does; and likewise also the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does. <sup class="crossreference" value="(<a href=&quot;#cen-NASB-28493B&quot; title=&quot;See cross-reference B&quot;>B</a>)">Stop depriving one another, except by agreement for a time, so that you may devote yourselves to prayer, and come together again so that <sup class="crossreference" value="(<a href=&quot;#cen-NASB-28493C&quot; title=&quot;See cross-reference C&quot;>C</a>)">Satan will not tempt you because of your lack of self-control. 1 Corinthians 7:3-5

As for homosexuals not marrying... in many states now it is perfectly legal for homosexuals to marry and sooner or later (my guess sooner) same sex marriage will be recognized in all states.

I don't think people restraining from sex before marriage will eliminate homosexuality.

Traditional Christianity (as opposed to the more "liberal" versions popping up these days) calls for fairly strict restrictions on sexual behavior. No sex before or outside of marriage. Some are called to celibacy for life. No homosexual behavior. Catholics even prohibit masturbation.

The permissive environment in which we live--high divorce rates, promiscuity, a "porn-ified" view of sexuality--has set the ground work for homosexual "marriage" to be legalized and celebrated.

I think gay marriage will be interesting. My guess is that a) few gays (particularly men) will do it and b) the divorce rates will be even higher than straight marriages.

Anyway, I don't see the relationship of sex before marriage to gay marriage. Gay relationships are much more sex- and lust-based than heterosexual ones. Heterosexual relationships have the complementary masculine+feminine roles to sustain them. Gay relationship have attraction, lust, and affection. My wild guess is that if our society started looking down upon sex before marriage again (not going to happen, but let's just say it did, magically happen) and still kept gay marriage+civil partnerships, gays would still get married...and then divorced sooner and more often than heterosexuals.

Yep thedutyisto have children.there is this huge section of the old testament dedicated to being fruitful and multiplying. This was also a very long held tradition throughout Christian history.

There are long held traditions throughout Christian history that aren't correct. The Bible doesn't teach that the "duty" is to have children... it simply doesn't. Sure, God said to be fruitful and multiply... but nowhere does He say the only reason for sex is procreation.

The context of the texts I shared is that people who are struggling with sexual lusts need to marry and within their marriage not deny each other so that Satan will not tempt them through their lack of self control.
"lack of self control" here equals "sexual desire"... not "having babies"...

Read through 1 Corinthians 7... Paul gave a lot of his personal opinion here that it's better to remain single, in view of the present troubles... this is one of the few sections of Scripture in which the personal opinion of the writer, writing to the conditions present at the time, must be carefully extracted from God's instructions.

However, nowhere in the Bible (not even in Romans) does it teach that sex is for procreation only. This section in 1 Corinthians makes it clear that sex within marriage is also to keep us from immorality.
