I have been studying the bible (along with Warren Wiersbe's bible commentary over the old testament and the book "Difficult questions in the bible")
and I am getting two different answers to a question I have, so I thought I would see what y'all thought about this:
The earth was not created in 6, 24 hour days... (and in saying this, I DID look up the word "day" in the bible and it does a period of time, it could also be used to say month, year, etc) but back to what I read..
And God created the universe beautiful and then there was the fall of Satan.. and that is where verse 2 comes into play "now the earth was formless and empty"
It does say in Isaiah 45:18 "For this is what the LORD says--he who created the heavens, he is God; he who fashioned and made the earth, he founded it; he did not create it to be empty, but formed it to be inhabited--he says: "I am the LORD, and there is no other.
It clearly says that God did not create the earth in vain..
and so this theory goes on to state that there is a "gap theory" between the first two verses..
the 2nd verse is a result of the fall of Satan and that is why he is referred to as "the prince of the world."
So it's basically the beginning of the universe as we know it, and not as it was..
and then I have also heard that the earth WAS created in 6, 24 hour days.. and I don't really know much else about that.. I know the "Gapy Theory" but I don't know the other side of it..
so if anyone could give me their input on it.. I'd appreciate it.
