Ezekiel 29:21 In that day will I cause the horn of the house of Israel to bud forth, and I will give thee the opening of the mouth in the midst of them; and they shall know that I am the LORD."

"In that day" is when the king of Babylon, (historically king Nebuchadrezzar but in the future sense it is Satan himself), will arrive for his great tribulation, his hour of temptation. DECEPTION, DECEPTION, DECEPTION, for he will be pretending to be Christ just as his followers now pretend to be Christian. Perhaps they even believe they are Christians. They are the "many antichrists/antichristians" running around spreading lies. Will we believe them/him? God tells us many will. As...they are now.

However, "in that day," when folks are falling all over themselves to worship the fake (poor misled souls), because they aren't being taught that the fake comes first.....God will "cause the horn of the house of Israel to bud forth." When does this "budding" first begin? While we are in the wilderness and that is, I believe, NOW. The witnesses are teaching God's children as the Holy Spirit speaks through them.

Biblically, "horn" is symbolic of power. The power of the house of Israel (CHRISTIANS!) will "bud forth." The horn/power is....God's very elect, His "man child" of end times who are of the two witnesses, of whom there are many. Notice the rod of power isn't fully developed but they/we are "budding." We are getting stronger as His Spirit is teaching us, opening new revelations, preparing us for that day. Already we witness for Him as the time draws nearer but soon......

Mark 13:9-13 But take heed to yourselves: for they shall deliver you up to councils; and in the synagogues ye shall be beaten: and ye shall be brought before rulers and kings for My sake, for a testimony against them. And the gospel must first be published among all nations. But when they shall lead you, and deliver you up, take no thought beforehand what ye shall speak, neither do ye premeditate: but whatsoever shall be given you in that hour, that speak ye: for it is not yet that speak, but the Holy Ghost. Now the brother shall betray the brother to death, and the father the son; and children shall rise up against their parents, and shall cause them to be put to death. And ye shall be hated of all men for My name's sake: but he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

The definition of "gospel" is the good news. Here it is the "divine truth." That is an interesting distinction. The good news has been spread around the world but the...divine truth is, I believe, the latter rain that has yet to be proclaimed. That deeper knowledge is what "must first be published," and that happens when the Holy Spirit speaks through the witnesses of end times.

Joel 2:23 Be glad then, ye children of Zion, and rejoice in the LORD your God: for He hath given you the former rain moderately, and He will cause to come down for you the rain, the former rain, and the latter rain in the first month.

2:28-29 And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out My spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions: And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out My spirit.

Jesus Said this would happen to the apostles, and it did.

And the gospel must first be published among all nations.

And it was:

Colossians 1:5-6 (NKJV) because of the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, of which you heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel, 6 which has come to you, as it has also in all the world, and is bringing forth fruit, as it is also among you since the day you heard and knew the grace of God in truth;

Colossians 1:23 (NKJV) if indeed you continue in the faith, grounded and steadfast, and are not moved away from the hope of the gospel which you heard, which was preached to every creature under heaven, of which I, Paul, became a minister.

Romans 1:8 (NKJV) First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, that your faith is spoken of throughout the whole world.

Romans 16:25-26 (NKJV) Now to Him who is able to establish you according to my gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery kept secret since the world began 26 but now has been made manifest, and by the prophetic Scriptures has been made known to all nations, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, for obedience to the faith;

And ye shall be hated of all men for My name's sake: but he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.[/i]

Again, all befell the apostled to whom Jesus was speaking.

2:28-29 And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out My spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions: And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out My spirit.[/b]

St Peter Proclaims the 1st century fulfillment of the above rather plainly:
Acts 2:14-18 (NKJ)
14 But Peter, standing up with the eleven, raised his voice and said to them, "Men of Judea and all who dwell in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and heed my words. 15 For these are not drunk, as you suppose, since it is only the third hour of the day. 16 But this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel: 17 'And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your young men shall see visions, Your old men shall dream dreams. 18 And on My menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days; And they shall prophesy.

Greetings, Whirlwind: On the Day Of Pentecost (Acts 2), the Holy Spirit gave some the ability to speak in other languages so that the nations assembled there would understand "the wonderful works of God." When they were accused of being drunk, Peter explained that what was happening was actually that which Joel had predicted would happen in Joel 2:28-32! Peter clearly said THIS (the speaking in unknown languages) is THAT which was spoken by the prophet Joel. What did Joel prophesy? "In the last Days, I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh." Acts 2 is the fulfillment of Joel 2:28-32!

Also, Matthew 13 is not directed first of all to us--Jesus was speaking to His disciples right there with Him about things that were to involve them personally. Jesus answered THEM saying: "Take heed that no one deceives YOU . . . . When YOU hear of wars and rumors of wars [YOU] be not troubled; for such things must happen, but the end is not yet. . . . These are the beginnings of sorrows. But watch out for YOURSELVES, for they will deliver YOU up to councils, and YOU will be beaten in the SYNAGOGUES. YOU will be brought before rulers and kings for My name's sake, for a testimony to them. And the gospel must first be preached to all the nations [which it was--Colossians 1]. But when they arrest YOU and deliver YOU up, do not worry beforehand, or premeditate what YOU will speak. But whatever is given YOU in that hour, speak that; for it is not YOU who speak, but the Holy Spirit. . . . And YOU will be hated by all for My name's sake. . . . But he who endures to the end shall be saved. So when YOU see the ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not . . . . "

Joel 2:28-32 has already been fulfilled in the last days clearly stated by Peter to involve the Day of Pentecost. Jesus' disciples were told ahead of time by Him that they would be brought before rulers and kings. The gospel was to be preached before that time which personally involved them--and the gospel was preached in all the world of those days (which is the meaning of Jesus' words!). Those disciples standing right there with Jesus were to see the abomination of desolation spoken of by Daniel the prophet!

This is the plain meaning of this passage. You are making an unjustified distinction between the gospel and a word meaning derived from Strong's concordance! Did you not notice that Strong's equates "divine truth" with the gospel! They are one and the same. Does not Strong's render it this way--"divine truth (the gospel)?"

The Gospel ("divine truth") was preached throughout the world in the first century, prior to A. D. 70. Kerusso (preach) is used in Colossians 1:23 along with euanggelion (Gospel). What do we have then in this verse--" . . . if indeed you continue in the faith, grounded and steadfast, and are not moved away from the hope of the GOSPEL (euaggelion) which you heard, which WAS PREACHED (kerusso) TO EVERY CREATURE UNDER HEAVEN. . . ." In Colossians 1:5 Paul affirms that the Gospel (euanggelion) had come to them as it had come to all the world! Strong's Exhaustive Concordance, p. 42 of the Dictionary section equates "divine truth" with the Gospel. It does not make a distinction as you have incorrectly implied.

Jesus clearly told His disciples that the Gospel would first be preached "to all the nations" during which time THEY would be brought before rulers and kings, and THEY would be hated, etc. Again, there is absolutely NO distinction between "divine truth" and the Gospel. The Gospel HAS been spread around the world as you have correctly noted. There is no "latter rain" or "divine truth" to yet be preached!

Sincerely, Preterist

Dear parousia70

I've been there...done that...with a dear preterist friend. I know he is wrong....as you are but I am weary with going over the same ground. We will have to agree to disagree on this. :shrug :-) At least until I haven't spent the day in an unairconditioned office with the temperature at 101%. Hopefully it will be repaired by tomorrow. :praying

Well, if you have "been there done that", your argument certainly dosen't reflect it, for it fails to overcome the preterist challenge we have laid before you.

The Bible (and therefore, preterism) teaches that Joel 2:28-29 was fulfilled in the 1st century.

The Bible (and therefore, preterism) teaches that the Gospel was published throughout the whole world before the end of Pauls Ministry.

The Bible (and therefore, preterism) teaches that all the eschatological events you have laid out were promised to befall the original receivers of the prophesy.

Sorry about the AC.... You should come to Oregon, it's nice up here!

Thank you....I wish I was there. :wave

As far as my argument reflecting anything ....I didn't argue for I didn't answer your challenge. Yet! :D I hope I have time to "give it a go" tomorrow. AC permitting. :onfire

I was using "argument" in the legal sense of the term.

Your opening post presented an "argument" from your position, in that respect.

Not that we are arguing
