The huggy thing in church

I am with ya GrannyJ ( not the ptsd) To me a 'real 'hug is way different than the automatic ones... Agreeing with Willie it does not take much to let it be known we dont like it... The huggers dont mean any harm... Reaching out as to shake a hand is very often enough to stop the hug...
What if I don't like hand shakes, smiles and greetings of any sort?
1 Cor 16:20 All the brethren greet you. Greet ye one another with an holy kiss.
Oh the humanity huh? :poke

Then i would respect your wishes....
Some things were customs of the day....
Should Christians wear sandals?
Mar_6:9 But be shod with sandals; and not put on two coats.
Act_12:8 And the angel said unto him, Gird thyself, and bind on thy sandals. And so he did. And he saith unto him, Cast thy garment about thee, and follow me.

So I am sinning for not letting someone I do not know come up to me and hug and kiss me?Ewwww.....I think that would be creepy.I am fine with my kids doing that.

Yet there were both deaconesses and prophetesses in the Bible...
I see servant as a title for women I see deacon for men I do not find deaconess?
so the deaconess has to only have one wife too?

Discernment? I could be very apprehensive in allowing an old woman (over 30) hug me. You can just seldom know their motive; there, I said it. Whew! :nono

Rom 16:1 I commend unto you Phebe our sister, which is a servant of the church which is at Cenchrea:
Rom 16:2 That ye receive her in the Lord, as becometh saints, and that ye assist her in whatsoever business she hath need of you: for she hath been a succourer of many, and of myself also.

A.S. Copley
“The word "servant" in this verse is"diakonon" (Gr.), that is, "deacon." It has the masculine ending only; but is used also in the feminine gender.”

ok Im trying to understand this. in the link 3rd paragraph speaking of phoebe it says not just material or financial but ANY
matter she says.
In the 5th paragraph it says decon (man) is only material things only so now it is clearly saying a woman has much more
power than a man?????????????????? im not seeing what you are.

"I commend to you our sister Phoebe, a deaconess of the church at Cen'chre-ae," (Rom 16:1 RSV)
The fact remains the word of God (even in the original language) speaks of a female deacon. We may not like it because it forces some people to question their long held traditional beliefs, but that's what it says. Some translations use the word "servant" because that's what a deacon does.

I don't think the Bible is clear on whether a woman can be a deacon in the Church.
