The Lie of Good Friday
To fulfill Jesus' own prophesy of the Son of man being in the grave 3 days and 3 nights, He had to stay there at least 72 Hrs.
So what will we learn?
We will learn that Jesus did indeed fulfill prophecy. He was in the heart of the earth, 3 days and 3 nights (72 hrs) just as He said He would be.
The Friday crucifixion with a resurrection before sunrise on Sunday morning totals approximately 36 hours. If we understood Jesus to mean that within three days and three nights He would rise again, then any period short of that would suffice.
But He taught that after three days and three nights in the heart of the earth, then He would rise again. This logically would necessitate the crucifixion on a Wednesday, then the daylight and nighttime periods of Thursday, Friday, and Saturday would be three days and three nights.
Mat 12:40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
So, how does Good Friday to Resurrection Sunday add up to make three days and three nights (72 hrs)?
Well it doesn't.
Either believe the KJV bible, or believe the traditions of men.
The bible is the word of God, and it is true, the traditions of men are the broad path that leadeth to destruction.
The days on the Jewish calendar BEGAN and ENDED at sundown. (Rather than at midnight, like we figure days.) And they viewed a day as NIGHT and then DAY. (Rather than viewing a day as DAY and then NIGHT as we do.) Evidently, so does God. During creation the week, which is recorded in the first chapter of the book of Genesis the day is repeatedly referred to as "the evening and the morning."
Jesus was buried at sundown, 6 pm, on the 4th day of the week, which actually makes it Thursday day.

Luke 23:53 And he (Joseph of Arimathaea) took it (the body of Jesus) down, and wrapped it in linen, and laid it in a sepulchre that was hewn in stone, wherein never man before was laid.
Luke 23:54 And that day was the preparation, and the Sabbath (the High Sabbath or Holy Day - the Feast of Unleavened Bread) drew on (the sun was going down).
Luke 23:55 And the women also, which came with him from Galilee, followed after, and beheld the sepulchre, and how his body was laid.
They got Jesus' body covered and into the tomb just as the sun slipped below the horizon. Jesus is now in the earth and the clock begins.
Thursday began at Sundown, on Wednesday
Thursday night 1 day
Friday night 2 days
Saturday night 3 days
Jesus is risen, up to 12 hours earlier, on Sunday. Mary goes to the tomb, and Jesus is not there, on Sunday.
Sunday is the Jew's first day of the week.
So, as the traditions of men would have you believe, Jesus was in the tomb Friday night, and Saturday night, and arose Sunday.
2 nights, instead of what God's word says: so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth

So what have we learned?
We learned that Jesus did indeed fulfill the ONLY SIGN that He gave concerning His being the Messiah. He was in the heart of the Earth, 3 days and 3 nights (72 hrs) just as He said He would be.
Jesus IS the Messiah! :amen
