The Lie of Good Friday

The Lie of Good Friday

To fulfill Jesus' own prophesy of the Son of man being in the grave 3 days and 3 nights, He had to stay there at least 72 Hrs.
So what will we learn?
We will learn that Jesus did indeed fulfill prophecy. He was in the heart of the earth, 3 days and 3 nights (72 hrs) just as He said He would be.

The Friday crucifixion with a resurrection before sunrise on Sunday morning totals approximately 36 hours. If we understood Jesus to mean that within three days and three nights He would rise again, then any period short of that would suffice.

But He taught that after three days and three nights in the heart of the earth, then He would rise again. This logically would necessitate the crucifixion on a Wednesday, then the daylight and nighttime periods of Thursday, Friday, and Saturday would be three days and three nights.

Mat 12:40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
So, how does Good Friday to Resurrection Sunday add up to make three days and three nights (72 hrs)?

Well it doesn't.

Either believe the KJV bible, or believe the traditions of men.
The bible is the word of God, and it is true, the traditions of men are the broad path that leadeth to destruction.

The days on the Jewish calendar BEGAN and ENDED at sundown. (Rather than at midnight, like we figure days.) And they viewed a day as NIGHT and then DAY. (Rather than viewing a day as DAY and then NIGHT as we do.) Evidently, so does God. During creation the week, which is recorded in the first chapter of the book of Genesis the day is repeatedly referred to as "the evening and the morning."

Jesus was buried at sundown, 6 pm, on the 4th day of the week, which actually makes it Thursday day.

Luke 23:53 And he (Joseph of Arimathaea) took it (the body of Jesus) down, and wrapped it in linen, and laid it in a sepulchre that was hewn in stone, wherein never man before was laid.
Luke 23:54 And that day was the preparation, and the Sabbath (the High Sabbath or Holy Day - the Feast of Unleavened Bread) drew on (the sun was going down).
Luke 23:55 And the women also, which came with him from Galilee, followed after, and beheld the sepulchre, and how his body was laid.

They got Jesus' body covered and into the tomb just as the sun slipped below the horizon. Jesus is now in the earth and the clock begins.
Thursday began at Sundown, on Wednesday
Thursday night 1 day
Friday night 2 days
Saturday night 3 days

Jesus is risen, up to 12 hours earlier, on Sunday. Mary goes to the tomb, and Jesus is not there, on Sunday.
Sunday is the Jew's first day of the week.

So, as the traditions of men would have you believe, Jesus was in the tomb Friday night, and Saturday night, and arose Sunday.
2 nights, instead of what God's word says:
so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth

To fulfill Jesus' own prophesy of the Son of man being in the grave 3 days and 3 nights, He had to stay there at least 72 Hrs.
So what have we learned?
We learned that Jesus did indeed fulfill the ONLY SIGN that He gave concerning His being the Messiah. He was in the heart of the Earth, 3 days and 3 nights (72 hrs) just as He said He would be.
Jesus IS the Messiah! :amen

In conclusion, as you drive around today, and tomorrow, you will see how this lie of the devil has permeated our society. One sign is, the cross with a black fabric draped around it. Usually
found on the lawns of Catholic, Lutheran, and some Methodist churches.

People blindly, ignorantly attend Good Friday services, not thinking about the reality of Holy Scripture.

Personally, I think Christians would do well to have observance of the Last Supper, on Wednesday, or even on Thursday,
and then, attend church on Sunday, glorifying Jesus, and being glad, and joyful, about Jesus's ressurrection
which happened on the first day of the Jewish week, which is Sunday.
It would be nice if the Baptist churches around here would have the Lord's Supper on Wednesday night, of Easter/Resurrection week.

John 19:31 said:
Now it was the day of Preparation, and the next day was to be a special Sabbath. Because the Jews did not want the bodies left on the crosses during the Sabbath, they asked Pilate to have the legs broken and the bodies taken down.
Perhaps I'm missing something, but this does seem to suggest that the crucifixion was the day before the Sabbath i.e. Friday.

biblereader are you aware the the jews of the north celebrated passover on thursday day, before 3 p.m. and the one to the south celebrated it one after 3 p.m.. this was allowed so that the temple wouldnt be overrun with sacrifices

Are you saying that we should celebrate the satyr feast or the communion?

:gah It's unfortunate that some Christians want to turn such an occasion into legalism, ignoring that it doesn't matter what day one celebrates, as long as it is celebrated and remembered.

free that's the way i see it.

though i do think that easter should be moved to the closer date, but its not something that will cause a stumbling block.

But if Jesus died on Friday, then his prophecy in Matthew 12 v 40 wasn't fulfilled, and the only logical conclusion from that would seem to be that Jesus isn't who he claimed to be. I think this is important.

I had actually been wondering about this lately. Because If he was crucified on a Friday and rose on Sunday, then he wouldn't only have been buried one full day. But your post makes sence.

Thank you. I'm not perfect, but, that's the kind of Christian Jesus uses, isn't it?
MY strength is made perfect in weakness.

It's not popular, to expose lies, but, oh well. SOME body has to do it.

That's another reason why I posted this!

I did an extended study on this subject once, while I don't remember just all of the particulars, I do remember some. Using the Jewish calendar it was found in the year 33 AD there were two Sabbaths. Which John 19:31 agrees with, one being a High Sabbath, which occurred on Friday. The other being the regular weekly Sabbath on Saturday.

I have forgotten exactly why this particular year had two Sabbaths, but I think it has to do with sabbatical years. # A little recounting, the High Sabbath was held on the Feast of Trumpets that year. Which occurs only every seventh year. Making AD 33 the only possible year Jesus could have been crucified, because any other year having a high Sabbath would have been either too early, or late in date to have fit in with his birt date of BC 2-1.
Which again pretty well reveals that to be BC 1, because his ministry could not have begun until he was 30, and continued three and a half years, to age 33 = AD 33. Being born on BC 1 would have made him 1 year old by AD 1. :)

Jesus was laid in the tomb before nightfall on a Thursday = day 1, he was in the tomb Friday eve = night 1, Friday = day 2, Saturday eve = night 2, Saturday = day 3, Sunday eve = Night 3. He had to rise before daylight Sunday eve (or we would call it morning), so there would not be four days counted. In the Rabbinical way counting of days, any partial day is counted as one whole day. Thus Thursday is counted as 1 day.

So a Friday crucifixion makes it impossible for Jesus to be in the tomb 3 days, and 3 nights by anybodies way of reckoning days. :) Besides it was the Catholic Church, that started the Friday crucifixion story. WHY ?????.

the two passover days was for the temple priest to be able to sacrifice all the lambs in one day. northern isreal went on thursday, and the south went on friday( this is refering to the passover).

I always think about that phrase 'he shall think to change the times and law" when it comes to so called Christian traditions and laws.

Yahushua it seems died on the day of Passover a.k.a. the 14th day of Ahbib a.k.a. Nisan which when translated into Ceasars calander was last March 30th. God Himself instituted this feast he commanded it was to be observed forever from generation to generation. My wife and I observe this day. Traditional for well over 2000 years. We broke bread, wrapped the middle matza in linen and hid it away until the third cup of wine, before the meal dipped our bread in bitter herbs that brought tears to our eyes in rememberance of the bitterness of suffering of the True Passover Lamb crucified for our sins. All these things we do not as a work of self-rightoueness in attempt to please God but to observe those things he commanded us to observe that we remember Him.

Unfortunetly there are others who still look back to their freedom from slavery and exodus from Egypt. But now we have a new commandment that is to remember Christ as our Lamb. The Lamb who freed who freed me from the bondage of sin and death. So, I observe the Passover as the Lord has commanded I also have Him as example as He kept the same commandment the night when He was betrayed.

Additonally on the third day He rose again that would put it on time and on target with the Feast of First Fruits. Amazing Gods calander.

Hey I found something I can agree with Catholics on! :)
I don't claim to have the exact answer to this, but here are a few of references to what I would hold in the topic.

I've always understood that the Jews often refereed to a day as a figure of speech to mean any part of a day, but in any case I hardly find this argument essential to the full spectrum of what the gospels tell us, or of our salvation. If you want to think it was Friday, or Wed or Thus. I don't think it will keep you from the love of God.

The first day of the week is Sunday, however the first day of the week after the Sabbaths [plural] is Monday. When the Hebrew calendar was 364 day solar based, those Sabbaths were always on Saturday the 14th, and Sunday the 15th. It was the newly converted Pagans to Christianity who insisted that the Sabbath be changed to Sunday. The Catholic Church also boast that it was by her authority that the Sabbath was changed, and that the proof of her authority is all of the churches that follow her leadership. The change from the 364 solar calendar to the lunar calendar began taking place around 167 BC. This change was brought about by the Hellenistic and Kabbalistic Jews. It was also prophesied in the book of Jubilees that this would happen.

That is what has been said about many scriptures. Anyway, it is interesting because how did that person know that the calendar would be changed?
Jubilees 6:32.And command thou the children of Israel that
they observe the years according to this
reckoning- three hundred and sixty-four days, and
(these) will constitute a complete year, and they
will not disturb its time from its days and from
its feasts; for everything will fall out in them
according to
33 their testimony, and they will not leave out
any day nor disturb any feasts. But if they do
neglect and do not observe them according to His
commandment, then they will disturb all their
seasons and the years will be dislodged from this
(order), [and they will disturb the seasons and
the years
34 will be dislodged] and they will neglect their
ordinances. And all the children of Israel will
forget and will not find the path of the years,
and will forget the new moons, and seasons, and
sabbaths
35 and they will go wrong as to all the order of
the years. For I know and from henceforth will I
declare it unto thee, and it is not of my own
devising; for the book (lies) written before me,
and on the heavenly tablets the division of days
is ordained, lest they forget the feasts of the
covenant
36 and walk according to the feasts of the
Gentiles after their error and after their
ignorance. For there will be those who will
assuredly make observations of the moon -how (it)
disturbs the
37 seasons and comes in from year to year ten days
too soon. For this reason the years will come upon
them when they will disturb (the order), and make
an abominable (day) the day of testimony, and an
unclean day a feast day, and they will confound
all the days, the holy with the unclean, and the
unclean day with the holy; for they will go wrong
as to the months and sabbaths and feasts and
38 jubilees. For this reason I command and testify
to thee that thou mayst testify to them; for after
thy death thy children will disturb (them), so
that they will not make the year three hundred and
sixty-four days only, and for this reason they
will go wrong as to the new moons and seasons and
sabbaths and festivals, and they will eat all
kinds of blood with all kinds of flesh.
