The Lord's Prayer: How complete?

Matthew 6 NKJV

9 In this manner, therefore, pray:

Our Father in heaven,

Hallowed be Your name.

10 Your kingdom come.

Your will be done

On earth as it is in heaven.

11 Give us this day our daily bread.

12 And forgive us our debts,

As we forgive our debtors.

13 And do not lead us into temptation,

But deliver us from the evil one.

For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

Can we make this our daily prayer? How complete is it? Looking critically at the prayer you will notice it is perfectly complete.

What do you think???
Thanks in advance.

Matthew 6:5-9

5 And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.

8 Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.

9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

The Lord's prayer is a pattern of how we should pray so we will not be like the hypocritical Pharisees that make long prayers repeating themselves over and over again in the same prayer and love to be seen of others for their prayers they make public.

Prayer is our petition before Jesus who is our mediator before the Father so pray once for whatever you are praying for, then keep thanking Jesus until your prayer is answered as everything is in Gods timing, but also remember sometimes Gods answers are no as only God knows what is best and will always give us His best.

I don't think the Lord expects His people simply to repeat this; but, yes, there is a perfect balance in the content between praise and thanksgiving and supplication in dependence.

Our reward is that of the riches of the Kingdom of God as he gives us the desires of our heart, which is freely given openly that others may see the testimony of Christ in us.

I actually meant verse 5...sorry.

I always took that as... "the hypocrites" choose to proclaim their prayers in public, seeking public attention for their works. Jesus says: "They have received their reward." The get what they are searching for (public attention) and nothing greater..

But if you truly pray to God in the privacy of "your closet," the Father will reward you, which is greater than any other reward.

I may be wrong, but that's always how I've read it.

Navigator:

Sounds good, yes.

Just goes to show how important a regular prayer and Bible reading habit it.

Blessings.

This really makes sense, honestly.
Thanks.

You find here the prayer of the Born Again, if it is caught?
'Your will be done' Acts 5:32's TOTAL SUBMISSION!:thumbsup

Okey Dokey, vs. 5 Other words Jesus is saying do not be like the Pharisees who we know are self-righteous hypocrites as we see in Churches today as they make the outside of the cup clean, but the inside of the cup is full of dead mans bones.
