The Major League Baseball Season Has Started

As a Tiger fan, there was little more satisfying than seeing the Yankees get knocked out of the playoffs by the Tigers in NY last year. All those fans were soooooo sure of themselves just marching on, like it was just a formality. All the richy-rich paying NY Yankee dollars for those expensive seats to be at "the place to be".

And at the end... :waving

but... :shame2 but... :shame but... but, we're still the best, cause we're the YANKEES!

Well, I guess we'll just have to overlook that flaw in Vic.

:biglol

I know some people who sat around me at Wrigley field (several years ago) didn't quite understand when I became animated because the 7th inning stretch "Take me out to the....." song was led by Eric Karros (former Cubs 1st baseman, amongst other teams). Eric had a remarkable career and loved playing....he makes a good commentator for games now.

Oh, I don't overlook it.

You should try to look for the good in EVERYbody, even Yankee fans.

Oh, I do. They look good when they're walking out of their stadium after a loss in the final game of a playoff series! :p

Enough said about the hatred being spewed here by someone who used to be an honorable guy....

Now, as for the BEST TEAM IN BASEBALL HISTORY, every team will have its down years. It's nice to know our down years typically still end with 90+ wins and some form of a playoff series. The Tigers hold a modern record which is the MOST 100 Lose seasons since the introduction of the DH in 1973. Who holds the record for the most World Series wins in that same time frame? The YANKEES!

Which team shelled out 200+ Million for the Prince?
Which team will have to do more to keep Miguel Cabrera?
Which team has two former Yankees farm hands staring for their team because the Yankees had too many stars?

I'm not saying the Yankees will the World Series this year, as I know we are not the same dynasty we were in the late 90's, but History is History, the Yankees are the best team ever!

The important thing here is that it's baseball season....FINALLY!

It was getting a wee bit tiresome watching the same line-up of baseball movies during the winter.....still, "Rookie of the Year" (about the Cubs) is still a fun movie, as is "Angels In The Outfield".

:yes

:lol

All in good fun, folks! :)

It's not "hate" for the Yankees. I specifically said I "loath" them. ;)

It's not the fans or even the Yankees that I loath, actually. It's the Yankee attitude. They seem to act like the playoffs should consist of divisional winners, 2 wildcards, and the Yankees... a fixed playoff spot for the Yankees. I'm sure if ESPN had its way, there would be. ratings, ratings, ratings. :gah

In my youth, I was a great baseball fan! I knew minute facts about players and history of the game that was pretty outstanding for a 10 year old. Over the years I lost that love, but still like the game. Going to the game can be pretty relaxing, and I hope to catch a few minor league games this year.... Maybe even make it out to a big league park to enjoy the experience.

I am a Cub fan first and an Indians fan second.... I tend to lose interest when the Cubs no longer are in contention. Usually that happens when NFL training camp is only a couple of weeks away.

See now there's a point of common ground. Why does A-Rod's broken finger nail get 23 hrs of ESPN's attention and the fact that the Pirates could contend get two seconds?

Just because the Yankees regularly earn our usual Postseason Birth, and just because half the records in baseball are held by the Yankees doesn't mean the rest of the league is useless! If they were, how else could the Yankees assert their dominance?

I found a pretty awesome stat the other day. The Yankees have faced every NL team in the World Series except the Rockies and Astros. In 2013, since the Astros are moving to the AL, it will just be the Rockies.

Now in all seriousness, I am a fan of baseball! It would be pretty good for the game if the Yankees face the Royals in that first wild card vs. wild card game and lost. Even better if the Pirates some how made it to the World Series and AJ beats the Yankees three times as the Yankees lose the series.

When a team is as regularly competitive as the Yankees, is natural to want to see the team lose. As a fan of baseball, it would be great if the Yankees took a season off every now and again.

So true.... we do want to help them .... by letting other teams have a chance at the playoffs and World Series.

Besides, they don't exactly seem to understand that money cannot buy happiness or true love.... nor can it buy a one-way ticket to paradise (heaven).

We must remember that Yankee fans are people, just like us, misguided as they are, and it is our duty to set a good example for them.

Yes, we should set the example for them.

And that is precisely why I don't 'boo' them when I see them .... I'll applaud in appreciation of talent when one or another of them does something exceptional.

But I'm more vocal and applaud louder with cheers for everyone else.

Oh, no! I'm discriminating..... hmmmmm.

Yes, we should cheer for the Yankees once in a while.

Don't cry, Mike ....

I'm only teasing you & Vic. There are times during Season when even my favorite teams act like they're just learning the concepts of the game, which can be frustrating.

I have great appreciation of the talents to be found in Major League Baseball, in both the National League and the American League. (I even like minor leagues!)

Who do you pull for, Air Dancer?

Yes, I appreciate the talents found in the National League, too.
