In most translations of Scripture the word antichrist is not found in The Revelation of Jesus Christ
What i find interesting is John 'penned ' The little books of John and The Revelation of Jesus Christ. God chose not to use the term antichrist in His Revelation .. Yet man puts it there over and over..
What antichrist is ,is stated clearly in john
1Jn 2:18 Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.
1Jn 2:22 Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.
1Jn 2:23 Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: (but) he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also.
1Jn 4:2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:
1Jn 4:3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
2Jn 1:7 For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.
2Jn 1:8 Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward.
2Jn 1:9 Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.
2Jn 1:10 If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:
2Jn 1:11 For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.
The above are the verses that speak of antichrist .. None of which speak to a world leader or setting himself up in a temple. Nor is antichrist spoken of a single person.. and not capitalized .

Amen to all that.
Reba,
You might be interested in reading a passage on the antichrist out of Gentry's
great and mighty work titled "He Shall Have Dominion."
Says Gentry:
"[Benjamin B.] Warfield provides helpful insights into John's teaching on the antichrist;
[Warfield] makes three declarations concerning antichrist . . .
(1) He transposes antichrist from the future to the present [of the 1st century]
(2) He expands him from an individual to a multitude.
(3) He reduces him from a person to a heresy."
[These 3 are powerful truths.]
continuing . . .
"John's readers are hearing that through antichrist is not yet on the scene, he
nevertheless is coming. But John informs them that this antichrist is
'now already
in the world' (1 John 4:3) . . . [and in] 1 John 2:18 'As you have heard that the
antichrist is coming, even
now [1st c.] many antichrists have come.'"
JAG Note: I typed in the above quote from Kenneth L. Gentry's He Shall Have Dominion,
page 377
Gentry's section titled The Antichrist [pages 374 - 379
totally destroys the ever popular,
fantastic, overly-dramatic, incorrect, and highly exaggerated "end times" predictions
of a coming world leader setting himself up in the temple etc etc etc . Its pure fantasy.
I thought you might find that interesting, so I put it here for
you to read. (Now if I can
just manage to "ease on out of here" without "stirring up a hornet's nest" I will do exactly
that
)
