The Methodicality of the Church

worship is what one puts into it. even new worship styles become boring in time.
This is part of the problem that needs to be dealt with, but only part. While it's true you can't make a worship style that someone finds boring suddenly seem interesting to them, we also need to deal with the attitude of going to church to only sit in a pew and be entertained as spectators. We have to teach people to take ownership of their local church body and invest something into it, including the worship service, but also including all aspects of the body. And while teaching them to do that, then we (as leaders) have to actually let them do it and encourage them to do it. Many churches make no effort at this at all. They may pay it lip service, but they make no effective effort.

One of the basic tenants of our denomination is... "Everyone gets to play". WE are our church.

It's been said so many times that every church has good and bad, and this is sure an example of a good in one of them! I have no problem with a structure of leadership in a church, but have always believed the leadership's responsibility is to encourage growth and encourage participation in all functions of the body, according to their talents and gifts. I've seen too many churches where the leaders exclude rather then encourage when it comes to the important things. "It's great that you want to bake cookies for everyone on Sunday mornings, but no, we won't approve your idea of starting a food bank for the needy because we don't want to share that much power with you. Just stick to Sunday cookies and be happy we let you do that."

This should bring those sleeping saints back to life. :)

How would a person claiming to be a fundamentalist, NOT do something like that?
