Mat 7:13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:

Mat 7:14 because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

Mat 7:21 not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

Mat 7:22 many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

Mat 7:23 and then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Wide is the gate that leads to destruction means many say they are a Christian by lip service, but have never really asked Jesus into their hearts by making confession with their mouth and belief in their heart, Romans 10:9, 10 Many just jumped in to works instead and glorify themselves within their works and give no glory to God, sort of like the Pharisees as we can see in Matthew Chapter 23 where Jesus characterizes the Pharisees and then condemns them.

Titus 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

Titus 3:6 Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior;

Titus 3:7 that being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

Ephesians 2:8, 9 it's not by our works or good deeds that save us, because we are all sinners, it is by Gods grace and mercy that forgives our sins and washes us clean by the atoning blood of the Lamb (Jesus). Those of self works only are the ones Jesus says he never knew.

Jesus is the gate, John 14:6 Jesus said, I am the way, the truth and the life, no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. These are those who have given themselves to the Lord and His Spirit lives in them and works through them as there are not many, but how can one actually define how many when Jesus says we will know them by their fruits. Have we all not seen those who claim to be of God, but their fruits do not show it!

How narrow is the gate that leads to life, as narrow as the wide gate is wide that leads to destruction.

The scripture says it like this, "the wicked will be greater than the sand of the sea" - Revelation 20:8 EXB.

That reminds me of Matthew 24:24 that if we are not grounded in the word of God and have not the indwelling of the Holy Spirit that wide path of destruction will be our demise. It's easy to be deceived if you have not the Spirit of God dwelling in you teaching you all things.

Matthew 24:24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

Rev 7:9 After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands;

in the 70's everyone would point to the sky and say one way.. there was a movement known as the Jesus movement they even had a One Way version of the bible.. That One Way.. Narrow Gate.. is Jesus he always has been..:)

tob

that bible version was one of these new ones.. :confused i think

How narrow is the gate that leads to life, as narrow as the wide gate is wide that leads to destruction.

What many don't realize is that those gates sit side by side and at first glance appear almost identical. It isn't until you get up close and examine the details that the differences become noticeable. The narrow gate seldom gets used because the path leading from that gate starts out at a steep incline with very little if any scenery, whereas the wide gate promises an easy walk with a gentle descending slope with many wayside stops along the way.

Most often, because of the narrowness of the gate, it doesn't even get noticed.
.

Matthew 7:14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.
Yes,narrow is the road that leads to heaven.The gate is the final entrance.But the journey that we take and the path and road that gets us there and the choices that we make especially for Christ is what is most important.

Unfortunately, narrow gate preaching doesn't draw many people these days, only a few very serious and dedicated believers who consider worldliness is a terminal cancer to their relationship with Jesus....Wide gate preaching draws great crowds of people who have itching ears, and a thirst for a big Christian Social Club where they can show off expensive cars, houses, and fat wallets. This has been my observation, obviously there are exceptions to this,but not many.

I wonder, if I walked into a narrow gate church, what would I see and hear?

That is because some so called Christians want to have their cake and eat it too.They want to do what they want to do and still reap the benefits of heaven.People do not want to let go of what this world has to offer.One foot in heaven and one foot on the Earth.Many people do not want to hear that either.

Jesus Christ is the King ... He is the victor not the looser...

I remember I once told a bunch of preachers at a fellowship conference, that the narrow Christian lifestyle was the hardest to live. A Pentecostal Preacher said I was wrong, it's the easiest to live. I think he was a wide road preacher. IMO.

2 Corinthians 11
3 But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.

Here is the simplicity in Christ.

Mark 12
29 Jesus answered him, “The first of all the commandments is:‘Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one.
30 And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’This is the first commandment.
31 And the second, like it, is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”

This reminds me of Pilgrims Progress.

This reminds me of a dream that an atheist had. He was in a very large field. Right down the middle of the field was a fence. On either side of the fence were people. On one side was Jesus and a crowd of people. On the other side was the devil and a larger crowd of people. He knew he was to make a choice. He saw Jesus look at him, then his watch and tap it with his finger and look to him again.What a hard decision. A moment to think it over. So he climbs onto the fence to sit and think for a moment. Suddenly everyone disappeared on both sides of the fence and he found himself alone.

Then all of a sudden the devil appeared beside him and said oh, I've been looking all over for you, sorry I forgot and left you behind, let's go. The man said but I didn't make a decision yet, all I did was to sit on the fence to think. The devil replied, yes you did...the fence is mine.And he took him.

He woke up from the dream a believer. As I understand it, this was a real dream that a real atheist had.

I remember being a part of that One Way movement where I lived. Looking back on that time I think, for me at least, was more a time of emotional feelings of the flesh more than it was a Spiritual experience of learning.
