Bible Study The New Testament Begins in Acts Not Matthew

And being "in Christ" is the result of the baptism with the Holy Spirit.

No. Being in Christ is the result of believing the Gospel.

Baptism in water and the Baptism with the Holy Spirit come after a person is saved.

No. Being in Christ is the result of believing the Gospel.

Baptism in water and the Baptism with the Holy Spirit come after a person is saved.

The baptism, the one that saves us, the one true baptism, is Jesus placing the Holy Spirit in us. That is the baptism, the placing into, the immersion that saves. Without the baptism with the Holy Spirit, one cannot be "in Christ", because it is the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, the agent of that baptism that makes us "in Christ".

1 Peter 3:21There is also an antitype which now saves us--baptism (not the removal of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God), through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,

What saves us? A baptism, not water baptism. One that results in our being resurrected with Christ Jesus.

Galatians 3:26-27 For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

It is a baptism by faith.

Colossians 2:10- and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power. In Him you were also circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, by putting off the body of the sins of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ, buried with Him in baptism, in which you also were raised with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead. And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.

Complete "in Him", and lacking nothing.

Romans 6:3 Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection, knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin. For he who has died has been freed from sin. Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him, knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, dies no more. Death no longer has dominion over Him. For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God.

It is the baptism that makes us "In Him", born again.

The baptism with the Holy spirit unites believers, not divide them. There are no "super Christians, or Catholic saints.

The baptism, the one that saves us is the Holy Spirit baptizing us into Christ.

For as the body is one and has many members, but all the members of that one body, being many, are one body, so also is Christ. For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free—and have all been made to drink into one Spirit. 1 Corinthians 12:12-13

Moreover, brethren, I do not want you to be unaware that all our fathers were under the cloud, all passed through the sea, all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea, 1 Corinthians 10:1-2

  • all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea,
