Nathan my grandson. born December 31, 1999. while he was alive when I married my wife in 2001. im blessed because his biological dad refuses to be a man and I get to be a grand dad. I don't get to spend as much time as I ought to with him due to life. but I have made memories with him.

Well,Thanksgiving is over and we move on to our next Holiday which is Christmas.
Do you have any pet peeves regarding Christmas?Mine are:
1.Decorations for Christmas go up in October.
2. The stations start playing Christmas music the day after Thanksgiving.
3. When someone says "Happy Holidays" and I say "Merry Christmas" to them and they give me a dirty look.
4. When going around to see the houses that are decorated and there is not one Nativity scene.All Santa Claus,Reindeer and Snow Men.

I find it amusing (and frustrating) all the politically correct greetings that people and various groups use just to avoid using the word Christmas etc. Of course, I always make it a point to wish my staff and anyone I come across a merry Christmas. Most people I find are OK with the words, but I know there are some bitter groups of people who want to complain about it. What I do get a kick out of are those who believe they are keeping the religiousness out of their greetings by saying "happy holidays" rather than "merry Christmas". They think they are being so clever and politically correct. They don't even realise where the word holidays came from (holy days).

I don't really mind that our culture doesn't recognize Christmas and Jesus' birth as much as it used to. Don't get me wrong. I'd like it if it honestly did, but I think of it this way. In 2014, it's a little easier to identify fellow believers. Back in the day, everyone and anyone said Merry Christmas and had nativity stuff on display just because that was the thing to do. It seems today the meaning is less watered down when not everyone speaks of it or shows it on their lawns.

I hope I'm not coming off bad when I say I like how our house stands out from the rest of the ho-ho-ho's on our street. This is my volley back at the house across the street that brings in Hollywood directors to coordinate his Halloween monstrosity.
