...'heavens' and 'earth' are being used metaphorically. 'heaven' was always a Jewish metaphor for the spiritual realm of that which is unseen. God creating the 'heavens' would include whatever angelic/celestial whatever there is. The 'heavens' is the realm of the spiritual, of good, love, truth, prayer, etc. The 'earth' would be all that is seen. A careful translation will make the distinction between 'heavens' and 'sky' in the creation stories for this very reason.

Just a quick drive by for now.....

Isn't the phrase "and all that is within them" often associated with "heaven and earth?"

different Hebrew names for God are used in the two different stories. the first is written in poetry. if you look at the Hebrew, it rhymes. there is a chorus if you want to sing it and everything.

Ooh, I never new that. That is cool that it is poetic. I think that is a very good reason why the order of Chapter 2 is different - and not as sequentially accurate.

Italians (those pesky Catholics) live an average of two years longer than the average American.

I think I know why.

An evangelical Protestant died and went to heaven. His guardian angel greeted him warmly, got him his robe and sandals, and took him for a tour. On streets of gold, they walked past stately mansions and people all with calm, beatific smiles on their faces.

"It's beautiful, and peaceful, and everything I hoped it would be, the man exclaimed. What a wonderful place!"

Finally, they came to a high wall with a door in it. The man walked up and opened the door before the angel could stop him.

Lively music could be heard, along with raucus laughter. There was a definite smell of whiskey, too. The angel slammed the door shut.

"What was that?"

"Nothing to be concerned about. Forget it."

"But what was it?"

"O.K." the angel said. "That's the rest of heaven. It's where we put the Catholics."

Everyone in the world seems to believe in their own so called facts, huh?
[italian gangster] Lookie here, boys. Looks like someone's tryin' a use an argument to th' effect that reality is subjective and that objectivity don't exist. And youse know what happens to people like dat.[/italian gangster]

Blue could you learn how to use the quote function, so I don't see {quote="whoever"} in virtually every post you make, please?

Thank you blue, for completely ignoring my request not to make arguments via anecdotes.

8-) Excuse me. When did we start bossing one another around here?
I say,if it has a great point use it if it's the truth.
I'm sorry if you felt I ignored you.
How can you know for sure you can trust what you hear and read?

By checking numerous independant sources.

:P I'll try to if I don't forget,o.k?
It looks like you are trying to make claims without any support for
them. Should we all believe it just because "you" said it?
Really? Is that how it should be all the time?
I believe everyone has an opinion, and it's time that the christians
begin to party big time ( no drugs or alcohol) and use their freedom while they still have it. Christians party with the joy of the Lord, amen.
Yes,I am talking about the true christians, not the One world religious
system.
Can you ever be objective to the opinions of others?

 And the rest of us don't?

Blue.

The reason why anecdotes mean nothing is I can't confirm them. I can't call up a bunch of people to confirm how good a christian your long-lived friend was. It is not independently verifiable, thus useless in this format.

Secondly, anecdotes often only refer to the exception, not the rule. There is no way to tell. I know someone who ran 15 miles EVERY day, ate well, and was in fine shape. Died of a heart attack at 31.

His story has no value if we are discussing whether health is tied to longevity. However, if research shows that 85% of people who run 15 miles every day live longer than those who don't, I can examine the data and make a decision. My buddy just happened to be in the 15%.

Here's a good read...

:B-fly: Thinkerman,I don't disagree with you on this.
In ancient times, people did have to excercise alot more than
we do now. We should get exercise, and try to stay healthy but
not obsess over it. Stress is a big link to sickness.
I'm sure that running almost daily for ancient people was something
they did often.

Since you don't care about my sources never to ask for them, I don't give them to you.

And I think you missed the point of Thinker's post. He was using an example, not initiate a conversation on the health benefits of exercise.
