The power of money

I was watching the Lord of the rings with my son, the return of the King, where the Gold ring is destroyed, then the all seeing eye, tower of power, collapses, 9/11 when the smoke for a moment, formed what looked like satan.demon like shape. can be seen on you tube.
the Gold ring, that had a power a hold. Gold, money,
it made me think about, the ruling elite, illuminati and others in the power pyramid, american dollar.
the all seeing eye.

and where its written the love of money is the root of all evil,
Jesus said it was easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle , than a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven.
and what does it profit a man, to gain the whole world, but lose his soul.

and the rich young man who wanted to follow Jesus, Jesus tolled him ,tested him, to give his wealth to the poor, then to come and follow,
money/wealth, had such a hold on this young man, who could not let it go.

there are all ways exceptions people who are wealthy, and are righteous, we have all seen celebritys high earners, often as can any one , fall from grace. temptation.
bound to money, power, sex. drugs, alchohol, ect.

YOU CAN NOT SERVE TWO MASTERS, God or money? johnny

Wow thats very very true. I`ll admit that I can be a little bit dense when it comes to somethings, but when they are framed in relation to something like a film that I have seen, it has that extra power over me. Thanks for your insightfull post :thumb

Good post. Unfortunately, we live in a society that often judges a man by what he has, rather than who he is. You know, "He who dies with the most toys wins."

Sad, isn't it?
God help us!

How strange graceforme,

I literally just read a book in which one of the scenes was set in a house and there was a sign in the kitchen saying "He who dies with the most toys wins." And now I read it again on here not less than 24 hours later. Before that, I hadnt heard the phrase before.

yes, it's so true..
and you know? i've realized something recently.. money can make someone feel like own your life. what a tragic?!
"people with money" feel that they can control your life, dictate your step.. like "you have to be like that, you have to go there, cause I've paid so much for your college"..
man, if you ever said that to someone or even your own children, oh,, repent. LOL..
cause it means your action is conditionally..
:)

God bless you..

You nailed it with this OP. :thumb

Personally, on a smaller level, I see my dependence on the Lord wane when "life is good". In the US economic downturn, my family has been hit hard. We've found the need to strip many things from our budget and lifestyle, and in many ways this has been a huge blessing.

Check this out. I went on a few mission trips to Brazil's poorest area where I witnessed people literally relying on God for every meal, every breath, every day given them. That was amazing dependent living. Within weeks of getting home, my extended family went on a Caribbean cruise together. The excess was repulsive. I was guilt-ridden. They had huge displays of food that wasn't even supposed to be eaten. It was sculpted and displayed for viewing only. :verysad

I do know a few people who are very wealthy, and they are as humble and Godly as anyone I know. One is a high powered attorney who started a whole ministry. He holds Christian concerts in our area with all proceeds going to the local soupkitchens and foodbanks. That is very much the exception in my observation. The wealthy have very little feeling dependence.

But it's all relative. Living in the U.S., it's my opinion that even simple living is still very wealthy by historical and worldwide standards. So it's presumptuous of us, including me, to say we are "doing without". We are very distracted and lack true dependence.
