The sins of our forefathers - generational curses

The law does also warned about a generational curse.

Deut 28:45-46

45 If you refuse to listen to the Lord your God and toobey the commands and decrees he has given you, all these curses will pursueand overtake you until you are destroyed. 46 These horrors will serve as a signand warning among you and yourdescendants forever.

Galatians 3:13 makes it clear we are nolonger affected by the curses of our descendants.

Your 2 scriptures above seem to contradict each other....

.... but I guess the first one is referring to unbelievers and wilful / perpetual sinners.

Good morning Tina,
<O:p</O:p
They do contradict each other. The generational curse in Deut. 28:45-46, is part of the old law and has no affect on believers because, “Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us—for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who is hanged on a tree.” (Gal 3:13, ESV)

I hope this helps clear up my other post.

Have a blessed day.

Galatians 3:13 refers to the curse of the law (i.e, Deut 11:26). Also, as I mentioned earlier, generational curse is not actually a curse but God questioning the generation. Scripture nowhere mentioned it as a curse. Please refer #20.

These are some verses for generational curses: (Exodus 20:5; 34:7; Numbers 14:18; Deuteronomy 5:9), but according to: Deut 24:16 The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, neither shall the children be put to death for the fathers: every man shall be put to death for his own sin.

We can not be held accountable for generational sin unless we are continuing in that same sin without repentance as the generation after us will also be held accountable unless the chain of generational sin is broken.

You are right in quoting the verse which is the same as in Ezek 18:17-18, but wrong in concluding.

As I mentioned in #20, in Ezek 18:17-18 (and the verse which you referred), the verses says that the good son shall not die for the iniquity of his father - which is also exactly what God said to David 'you shall not die' in 2Sam 12:13. However, God still killed the child (2Sam 12:14) and God executed his curse as He told David in (2Sam 12:11) by his very son in (2Sam 16:22).

(Jer 51:56) ... For the LORD is the God of recompense, He will surely repay.

I doubt if there is another thread on this (not sure):

The sins of our forefathers - generational curses

Once you give your life to Christ - the next step is 'deliverance from the sins of our forefathers' (some call it family delverance, some call it Land deliverance, some call it generational curses).

This is one of the hottest topics some churches have been debating on.

Is family deliverance biblical (even after one has received the Lord)?

It seems to suggest that the Blood (shed on the cross) isn't enough.

Group A will tell you, 2Cor. 5:17 NKJV

Group B will tell you,

And they have some biblical verses to back up their arguement, e.g see Exodus 20:4-6. I don't remember all. If I remember the other verses I will post them.

I don’t worry about the sins of those that came before me. I try to do everything I can to make sure there isn't sin in MY life.

Me too - except that I frown over them.

And how about the possiblility of a generational curse? (Are you trying to suggest that the affected progeny should not worry about it?)
