Yeah. I'm talking about the Anointing oil.I thought it was just good oil. Necessary for spiritual issues? You mean like anointing someone with oil? I dunno, maybe.
Would it have to be extra-virgin or would it matter? I never thought about it before.
Yeah. I'm talking about the Anointing oil.
A friend of mine was somewhat bitter and curious why it was not used during pastors' ordination.
So I'm curious too if it is gradually being de emphasised - maybe unknowingly
No.So, is the use of the olive oil necessary today (on spiritual issues)?
Hail Caesar! It's an absolute must on my Holy Caesar Salad.
Mine is a religious experience all in itself.
But the use today is not idolatry? No.
It was only required in worship and service to God during the first covenant.
It signifies the Holy Spirit. Now that we know that, that figure and type of the Holy Spirit is not required. We have the reality fully revealed for us now, so the type and shadow can be set aside. Not prohibited (James 5:14 NASB), but certainly no longer required as a matter of law for proper worship of God.
Who says that? This might helpPsalm 92 says, "I will anoint with fresh oil".
Fresh is translated "ranaan" which means green.
Extra Virgin olive oil is green.
Voila!
I will anoint with extra virgin olive oil.
Why not?
However, I don't see it as being a command, do you?
Only if they make it an idol. But the use today is not idolatry?
No worries, idolitry is more a state of mind. But the use today is not idolatry?
I don't know Jethro. It seems to me that James is saying TO USE the oil, which would go beyond just using it if we WANT to. However, I do notice that no one does and I don't think it must be used for any prayer or annointing to be efficacious. God will work anyway.No.

That good green oil, however, is very efficacious on a good salad, as John has noted.
