The use of the Olive Oil Prohibited?

Time to come out of retirement, wondering:

"work with your hands, just as we commanded you, 12so that you will behave properly toward outsiders and not be in any need." (1 Thessalonians 5:11-12 NASB)

No excuses. Either this is a guideline, or a hard and fast command. If it's a hard and fast command you better start filling out applications today.

How about this one.

"26 Greet all the brethren with a holy kiss." (1 Thessalonians 5:26 NASB)

Have you given Rollo Tamasi his holy kiss today?
Lol, she's given me more than a holy kiss this morning.
She's giving me a whack in the head!

LOL.
We are commanded to work. I've worked as I'm sure we all have. In one way or another. Even a woman who stays home to raise her family is working (just not getting paid for it!).

Went to church today. Several holy kisses. Rollo Tamasi wasn't there.

Some Pentecostals and Charismatics use the oil the same way. They use it with prayer to bless and cleanse.
Yes I think this is what I experienced. Like I said at the time I new little about God and what he has done to save mankind. That was my only experience with oil used in this manner. I t does say in the bible when one is sick
oil and prayer will help.

In the non-denominational full gospel church I attended in the late 80's and early 90's the pastor kept a small bottle of olive oil at the altar for anointing purposes when people came to the altar to pray.

So, is it a hard and fast command, or is it just something Christians can do if they want?
To be honest, you're quoting Paul.
Jesus spoke of things we had to do. I can't think of any suggestions.
For some things that Paul said we could choose since the times have changed in regard to customs and traditions - not in morality.
I don't believe Jesus ever said to give each other a holy kiss. That was Paul (I think Peter too , but not sure).

Doesn't count.
The law is the law.
Get a paying job so you will be obeying Paul's command to work to pay your bills so you won't be dependent on anyone else.
What do you mean?!
Men are the head of the home. They go to work to make the money.
Women stay home and take care of the house and kids so the men could work in peace and come home to a home and not a house.
Oh. And BTW, the women get to spend the money!
I'm old-fashioned Jethro. I believe in roles. They keep the society moving smoothly.
Couples today are trying hard but they don't have a good sample to follow anymore.
What say you?

Well, since you look a lot like Catherine Zeta Jones I will let you off the hook and let you stay home. :lol
