There is the WORD, then there is OPINION...do YOU know the difference???

this isn't the exact message I'm remembering and looking for, but it is in the right direction .
"I have been crucified with Christ" I have nothing in the flesh with which to please God nor to save myself."

thus it is very much more true - it is what God says, not what I can say, that is important. and it is repeated in Philippians and Thessalonians and Galatians in various ways all saying the same >>> GOD is important --- the sower of the sead and the waterer are simply doing their duty as a servant. It is GOD who gives LIFE.

happy reading ! :)

here's a little more in the right direction - God's Opinion is more important, the only important, opinion.

"Paul says that the Lord’s bond-servant must be “able to teach.” The word “correcting” (2 Ti 2:25) is the word for “child training.” It refers to giving instruction, correction, or discipline to a child. The standard for all such teaching is God’s Word of truth. In other words, we should never attempt to correct by saying, “I think,” or, “in my opinion, you’re wrong.” My opinion carries no weight. God's opinion what matters! You must be careful here, because it’s easy to mix up your opinions or your way of doing things with God’s clear commandments. They may not be one and the same. We sometimes inherit certain views from our upbringing or from cultural notions about right and wrong.

For example, I’ve heard people say to children who are rambunctious in a church building, “You shouldn’t behave that way in God’s house!” But, church buildings are not God’s house! God’s people are His house, but the building is just a convenient place where the church gathers. It may be that the children need to be have in a more subdued manner in a group setting, but God’s house has nothing to do with it. To view this building as a sacred place is to confuse a cultural idea with a biblical truth."

This thread has really helped me understand exactly what is an "opinion". That has been a flaw in my thinking. Opinion is something we inject in like everything. And I have never understood that. I have always wondered why so many speak as if they are God. And I am not just talking about the bible. But even worldly topics. I have seen people stand up proudly and arrogantly and talk about things in a way that would denote they know all. And hey, I'm sure I have done it many times too. But I have always noticed when others do it. I try not to do it if I can help it.

I guess there is a time and place for everything. What would it matter in simple small talk right? It matters to me when you have always wanted the truth. That means truth in everything. Whether its the bible, electronics, or comic books. I just want the truth.
