To lust or not to lust...

The point of which is we can't really identify lust by comparing it to the amount of time we spend on God centered things.

It seems lust can be identified by the sin it produces, but does it always have to do that in order for that lust to be considered sin?

If you are not carful you are going to make your slef dizzzzzzzy.

So I'm guessing, then, that you would say in answer to my question that lust must produce sin for that lust to be considered sinful?

But what if the whole cow in my above example is mine to begin with? Does that now make eating the whole thing for supper no longer lustful because I own it?

I don't believe eating an entire cow is sinful. It's your cow, you can do whatever you want with it.

Hay Gary,,,,man bought a bottle of gin for sipping purposes when he got a cold....Now then he decides to simply sit down and drink the whole bottle...is it sin? it is his bottle as you say.

No, it's not black and white. I'm thinking along questdriven's vein of thinking that the sinfulness of lust has to do with the consequences it produces, for as you point out it's certainly okay to lust after the things of God. Or does lust carry a connotation with it that does not allow one to say they lust after the things of God?

I think it must be that lust produces sin only if it's done outside of faith.

We lust (desire) after food, we eat it, this is done in faith - not sin, we lust (desire) after hot chic that's a sin because it's done outside of faith.

I think you're right about words and meanings, lust only means desire. We can desire to do the will of God or we can desire to watch porn...both are desired, but one is sin.

If it's outside of faith, then it's a sin.
You're talking to someone who isn't married, but I'm pretty sure it's not a sin to desire or lust after your wife.

You could also make orange juice off her head, too, impale something, peel an orange, quit useful she is.

It's his Gin, he can do what he wants with it. If it's a sin, it's a sin you, but not to me. God searches the heart. Unless the man drinking the Gin had sinful intentions, all was doing was working on a killer hangover.
