This was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom, pride, fullness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters, neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy. - Ezekiel 10:49

1. Pride
2. Gluttony
3. Slothful
4. Greedy

In other words... They had too much time on their hands! Pictured below are times of revival in our church. Bring in the sins of Sodom and I am lucky to see two cars in the parking lot on Sunday mornings. The old timers were very structured in their ways of life. They would be amazed at the time people spend on electrical devices these days.

Yup. It is interesting to note how important all that structure was, to maintaining such churches. The consequences are no longer surprising to me at all. Sweet Lori and I are part of a local church which has much devotion to that which Christ the Lord has said, done, and discussed, much life indeed, no overwhelm of structure, and no lack of cell phones, tablets, laptops, and other equipment.

The problem with many churches today (not all) is that many become Pastor follows believeing every word that comes out of their mouth from the pulpit that can lead many astray from truth as they follow the Pastor, but not that which has already been written in the Bible. Many think that if they are a good person and go to Church every Sunday with a Bible tucked in their arm that has hardly ever been opened or even read that that is all they need to do and to me this is very sad as scripture explicitly says unless you are Spiritually born again and indwelled with the Holy Spirit you will not inherit the Kingdom of God, John 3:5-7. Prim and proper on Sunday, but live the rest of the week dying in their sins.

Yup. I once visited a museum a couple of hours away (I'm in northeast Kansas, USA) which was very educational about this. In the 1950's, the federal government swooped in and destroyed tens of thousands of the local school districts all over the nation, and brought in outside teachers and administrators. These communities were more centered around the schools for their children, than their churches. The scheme was sold to the people by dangling gigantic piles of federal dollars. And since it was culture, not Christ, there was a slow and steady church-collapse, some of whose ripples are still going out.
