There is only one truth; Gods truth.

I have heard people say the Holy Spirit told them one thing and other people say the Holy Spirit told them something different...on the same subject. All Christians.

How can all you Christians (not trying to be crass...just directing to all of you that are Christians) say the Holy Spirit told you something that is divided? God said a house divided is unable to stand.

I am so confused on this. It makes me not want to form an interpretation or thought of my own from Gods word; as if what I think is right...when it could be so wrong. Which also confuses me as to what to believe or I guess how.

Afternoon.

Yup, you pose a very interesting topic of conversation. The problem is not with God's word and the message Jesus brought. The problem lies within individuals and their own interpretations. This began even less than 20-30 years after Christ's death. The church in Corinth and the churches of Revelation show us this.

Who is right? and who is wrong ?
who has the ultimate truth?

Do you "believe" that God's word is inspired by the Holy Spirit?
This is where I would begin.

From there, I would ask that you delve into exactly what you are talking about. Please be more specific in your story.

However - let me give you two basic truths stated in scripture.

Love the Lord your God with all your heart mind and soul. This is the greatest commandent. the second is to love your neighbor as yourself.

Then in the book of Acts. Repent and be baptized every one of you.

Love and Faith.
May God bless you with the power of the Holy Spirit, so you may see His face.
Edouard.

Hello, to answer your concern I will say this; many, many Christians "believe" that the "voice" they hear in their minds is that of the Holy Spirit when in fact it may be the voice of Satan or just one of their own thoughts. You have hit on one of the most confusing aspects of knowing the voice of the Lord. It has been my experience that when I "think" I am hearing the voice of the Lord I pray and ask Him to bear out what I am hearing. The only thing I can say for certain is that if the "voice" says something that ultimately does not happen or is false, that was not the Lord as He is incapable of sin. As far as your concern about not wanting to form an interpretation, try reading the word as simply as you can and let it speak to your heart, don't try to analyze everything. You said "you that are Christians", are you not a Christian? If not let me know, either in the open forum or in a PM and I will be happy to talk with you about becoming a child of God.

This is one reason that Bible study is so important. If indeed the Spirit speaks to someone, it must line up with scripture, if not --- well I guess you need to stone them. At least not believe it. :lol

That also counts for screwy interpretations, which the Scripture does not avow, or confirm.

This is why I am skeptical of voices. Sometimes it may even be a person's verifier to their being non-accepted and you may find that person's life is in shambles or controversial enough, but somehow feel that they want to tell you something as "a word from the Lord".

The bible is all the revelation we need (although I believe God revealed Himself in more ways). But if that message is conflicting, we can then be certain it is a matter of interpretation.

Greetings yup! Also welcome to the forums!

The word of God was written so that it is beneficial to all, from the greatest to the small. When it comes to finding the "truth", might I suggest that we learn to crawl before we start running and by that I mean that there are simple truths throughout the Bible that are easily understood.

We are told for instance to "desire the pure milk of the word".

1Pe 2:1-2 KJV - Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings, as newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:

Reading in the Gospel of John, and also Psalms and Proverbs helps me. I also like to read from the book of Isaiah because so many thoughts that are in my heart are very well expressed there.

I hope that helps! The Holy Spirit is our teacher and our comforter. We also are assured, "My sheep know my voice and will not follow another." When we look at Psalm 23 we understand yet another difference -- that the Lord is our shepherd / provider. I've never found anything from the Holy Spirit to be obnoxious or anything less than peaceful and pure. That's not to say that I myself have been a perfect example of such things, only that I too desire the pure milk of the word that I may grow thereby. As you know, our Father in heaven desires only the best for us and sometimes when we are reluctant to turn from sin this can bring conflict.

Right now it looks like all Christianity is divided over doctrine and dogma. When we listen carefully to the Word of Truth we see that these things ought not to be. Is it really a simple matter of loving God above all and loving one's brother as we love ourselves?

How do I personally resolve the dilemma? The God-Trust that is given (Faith) causes me to believe that He is able to resolve all such things and works even now toward that end. In the meantime, it is okay to avoid crass and base individuals who are bent on argument alone. Who wants to tolerate screeching in one's ear about "godliness"? The worst thing that I've seen myself do in those situations is to add my voice to the din but, and again, these things ought not to be.

Cordially,
~Sparrowhawke

Thank you all for your input. I appreciate your help. I am a Christian; being told lies to confuse truths I used to believe..now am confused cause the lies are subtle. Thank you.

Yup, it helps to understand that different Christian groups don't disagree that much. Pentecostals tend to emphasize the work of the Holy Spirit, Calvinists tend to emphasize a yielding to God's will. Although I feel that both groups make some mistakes, both groups have people who are being used by God.

That's how God has chosen to reveal His Truth. When you look at all the different Christian denominations as a big Pie, and see all the denominations as slices in the pie, you will find that God's Truth is in the whole pie, and that each slice teaches only part of God's Truth.

Why? Because ONLY those who have Faith, not knowledge, can enter the Kingdom of God. The complexity of views of the various denominations assure that we must come to God by Faith alone, no matter the denomination.

It's simple to know if one's interpretation is correct. If it agrees with God's Holy Word, true Science, and History, it's as close to the One Truth as is Humanly possible. The fault is Not with God's Truth, but with man's ability to understand it, for His thoughts are far above man's thoughts.

many false teachings are very subtle, which is all the more reason why we have to be so careful.

The best way to keep from being confused is to get away from forums and the internet and get into your bible and prayer for a few years.
God and His word wont mislead you, brother.

Thank you for your honesty and insight. I was actually told that (bible/prayer) shortly after I entered this topic; which is why it took a while to get back on. I just wanted to see this topic though. This is confirmation, I believe. Thank you.
