TV Shows that were cancelled way before they should have

For me the one show that immediately comes to mind is Firefly. Great show that was cancelled too soon. Glad they made a movie to kind of wrap some things up, yet leave the ending open enough for a sequel.

five but It had no closure and also it was cancelled for sgu which only lasted to seasons. sy-fy wanted to keep sga going but mgm didn't want to do both sga and sgu at the same time.

The Incredible Hulk. There's only a few episodes in the 5th season, so they got nothing even close to a chance to wrap things up. It should have at least finished that season.

Probably because there isn't enough killing in them or gore to satisfy the general public. Seems to be the subject matter of most TV programs these days.

urk, I would have to disagree with News Radio. That show "jumped the shark" after Phil Hartman died. John Lovitz just could not fill his shoes, and the show went on longer than it should have after that happened.

I'd have to second Firefly. It aired and ended before I could watch it. LOL

Another one I thoroughly enjoyed but ended after 4 short seasons was "The Unit"

Yeah, you're right. Andy Dick and Phil made that show what it was.

It is said that Lovitz wanted to try to carry the show in honor of his long-time friend, Phil Hartman.

He did better than I thought, but truth is, Hartman SOUNDED and LOOKED like a radio newscaster.

I loved that show.

That would be a prime example of someone's heart being in the right place, but poorly executed. Lovitz fits a certain kind of character, the one he tried to fill on News Radio was not one of them, unfortunately.

100% right - with all the talk of how they worked and worked to get the right cast in the FIRST place, it is disappointing that the producers went along with this.
I'm not sure WHO could have pulled it off, but Lovitz was not at all the right one for the job.

And I LIKE Lovitz...

The two shows that come to mind when I think of shows canceled too early are Gilligan's Island and Veronica Mars. Both deserved more than 3 seasons.

Gilligan's Island was only three seasons? I always thought it was longer than that. Probably because it was one of those sitcoms that made the transition from b&w to color back in the 60's.

Are you excited for the Veronica Mars movie that is in development?

It was only 3 seasons, yeah. They were just about to renew it and then some fool of an executive decided he liked Gunsmoke better so they moved it into Gilligan's slot. Outrageous decision, westerns are so boring!

I'm excited for it but I hope they get mostly the same actors. I wouldn't mind a different Logan though, he was a jerk. In fact... yeah they should just cut that character. But they wouldn't. At least Kristin Bell is on board.

God&DogGirl, hey I like westerns. Though I do find it interesting that they would launch a new western in the mid-sixties considering all the kids were more enthralled with space stuff. Westerns were much bigger just 10 years prior. That being said, Gunsmoke and Bonanza certainly did well for themselves.

I used to think westerns are boring. that all change when I went to the western states of the this nation we live. I have also been fascintated by the old railroads.

I don't quite know if you are a gamer at all, but have you tried any of the Railroad tycoon games?
