When I arrived home a few minutes ago I met the guy who's TV got roasted and we talked about the lightning incident. Seems his ex wife screwed him over with the insurance and he's gonna have to pay it all by himself. :-( Also he found out none of the buildings in our street (all run by the same landlord company) have lightning arresters.
2 I thought they were kinda obligatory?! This house is a death trap
Next time we have a storm I'll be hiding in a basement.
So while I was talking to my neighbour a guy from our cable TV and internet provider company showed up in order to repair or replace another neighbour's modem. He agreed to do the same with mine (which also got destroyed). The modems we use are proberty of the provider company, so i'd had to call them anyway. That guy showing up at the right time saved me a phonecall.
He also educated us a big deal about the physics of lightning strikes. When I finally made it to my appartment my phone rang. The leader of my church's sound tech team called me to ask me if I'm okay with some new schedule they made. While we were talking I also told him of the lightning story and jokingly asked him whether he happens to have some laptop sitting around somewhere that he could sell or temporarily borrow to me. Turns out he actually has.
So by the end of the week I'll be back online.
The third item the lightning killed was a printer that belongs to my boss (yeah that guy), he couldn't get it to work with his Windows 8 so he gave it to me and I have to do all the company's and some of boss's private printing.
Well I mailed him the news of his printer being dead. Just while I was typing this post my boss called me and he wasn't mad, but a mix of worried and amused about me being hit by a lightning. :biggrin So that lightning gave me 10 min on the phone with a friend who I'm in love with and haven't seen in two weeks, and it may also give me a new and better computer than the one that I used to have. :biggrin If that was a spiritual attack I want to get attacked more often.
