Ungodly Christian Rock ?

Man I love Yes.
As with most big-selling bands from that era, they started to "sell out" in the 80's. Pretty much all their best work was in the 70's. There are some exceptions, though they were songs, not entire albums.

Oh yes, back to the subject of the music of YES

You and me.....
Silly girl, that is "And You and I". :P

Try listening to that song from a Biblical perspective. Both Jon Anderson and Chris Squire were devout Catholics growing up... even went through Catholic school together and graduated from a RC High school. Their lyrics were heavily influenced by their learned theology. They were called "Cosmic Christian musicians" by their peers.

And You and I, part III, The Preacher, the Teacher

("A clearer future, morning, evening, nights with You.")

Did I digress? :o ;-)

We've been down this convo road before. You are "preaching to the choir" so to speak. I though I was hopeless at one point in my life. God had other plans though. I enjoy the music I enjoy, whether it be "Christian" or quality secular music in almost the same way I enjoy studying the word for an hour or two each night. Sometimes I even do both.

Try sitting down while studying with Yes' "Close to the Edge" playing in the background.

Hey vic check this out......

I did a 500 lb squat the other day for 6 reps.......

You cant get that pumped listening to Yanni let me tell you....

You are right in that there IS a time and place for everything including high testosterone metal.....

Just know your limits and dont take some of those lyrics at face value....

Got a live VHS tape of Yes, I am going to play it.

Hahaha! Don't we all digress every so often?

Those yester years are all a bluur because of the effect of the weed that crowed my thoughts! (no wonder they call it weed! Weeds take over and spoil the garden! )

Like I said, I'll have to dust off the old albums and listen again.
Thanks for the insight about them being called "Cosmic Christian musicians". I knew I was drawn to their music for some reason.... :)
And hey, I will be listening from a totally different perspective this time! DRUG FREE!
Geez! I'll tell ya! Being a pot head for 6 years (back then) really fogged the stage!, know what I mean? And now that I am much older...... Now that it's 30 some years later. I might get some valuable tid bits out of their music and lyrics. :P

Never too late to see things from a different perspective, Aye? :D

Oh, Don't ever tell me to get rid of my Emerson Lake and Palmer Albums! ;-)
