United Nations

There are many times I don't care for what the U.N. is up to, then other times I applaud their efforts. Two things I wish they would do is form an international firefighting team(Australia for example) and an international clean up team(Giant floating plastic island in the Pacific)

I think every country should manage itself. Why is a United nations needed. All countries need to do ask another country if they could spare a hand with something, they don't need a mediator.

What is anything the UN has achieved. Nothing. It's just takes in bucket loads of cash and feeds a few.

I think they did a few things in the peacekeeping forces that did some good, but yeah, they're wasteful. I see Australia struggling with not enough resources to effectively battle the fire and the hodge podge assistance seems slow. If a ready made fully funded UN firefighting force were available then it could quickly act........if asked of course.

Pakistan is labelled a seperate independent country when its part of india, so the world need to also accept Israel is a independent country and has the right to exist.

wow...im in awe of kiwidan's knowledge on the subject.........
on the subject of human rights I'm appalled at China...they are getting away with treating some of its citizens like dirt. there are some shocking stories of extreme abuse....and North Korea of course is absolutely evil...….

The UN wants the USA to take in near 600 million migrants under "replacement migration" scenario 7.

Any how on earth is Pakistan and Saudi on the human rights council. None of the greatest human rights abusers ever get condemned and the only country that ever gets condemned is Israel. The UN is just a complete joke.

Might want to learn who the Romans called palenstine ,dems in,the bible philistine, that is ashdod, ekron etc

Anyhow still, how did they get on there in the first place.

The UN coordinates medical care in poor countries. They are peacekeepers that inhibit at least some degree of conflicts around the globe.
When we think of each country doing its own thing we can remind ourselves of that state of affairs pre WWII. Isolationism is absolutely impossible today.
Countries must communicate and trade with one another.
The UN is imperfect. But the extreme other choice is beyond imperfect.
The United States has long considered one of their roles as being a positive force in the world. We assumed democracy, something resembling our democratic republic, the best model of government and have wanted to encourage its spread.
We have wanted to be the biggest influencer in the global community.
Being the richest country on earth and wanting to influence the world pretty much means that, yes we will pay more for NATO and the UN. It should also mean we have way above average standards of national character and treat other countries honestly and fairly.
The alternatives of pulling back and treating allies like second class nations are a waste. I don’t think God blessed us with such abundance to horde.

you mean the united states, and france and brittain. having been overseas and near an seldom used un compound, we hated the un. they mandated that we didn't arm our convoys in the Afghanistan vote. so we got shot and and couldn't return fire.kind hard t maintain order.

unicef is a joke, we pay depending on which party is the president a member of for abortions of said poor, never mind that well the un ngo's are hated by muslims. a nation building of another type in those types of places, Iraq, Afghanistan and Syria will never work.

the only exception to the rule is the Kosovo debacle. I didn't raise my right hand to swear and oath to the un. and that has been debated and fought by a few and sadly lost. we went to korea under the un banner and were not actually under an American command but the un command. yet and well we are still technically at war with n.korea .armistice but a not a peace treaty is signed. we can simply fire up the guns and so forth and war is not needed to be declared if we so choose.

dr. without borders operated in Afghanistan and my prt that was at, we treated more locals then un did or doctors without borders, we also on missions with the ca, this was my mission as force pro though I did mostly that base resupply mission thing. the locals would travel to us from far places or we as we went out and set up med caps. we used this to actually gain biometrics. yeah winning hearts and minds hasn't worked out. my base overlooked the un compound and we had a mission should the useless un guys who were hated more then we were find themselves in up crack creek wihout a paddle we had to go un screw them. we did that several times until we told them take a hike you are not helping.

Yeah I'm not Pro-UN but I think there things they can do like I suggested above. The UN is here we might as well deal with it and think of ways to try and make it better......it sure won't get better on its own.

The United Nations was not organized for those purposes. There are five basic mission points of the UN.

  1. Maintain International Peace and Security
  2. Protect Human Rights
  3. Deliver Humanitarian Aid
  4. Promote Sustainable Development
  5. Uphold International Law
You can find these defined here, https://www.un.org/en/sections/what-we-do/

Government is just human beings ruling over other human beings.

A couple of years ago the government sent me a warning letter in the mail saying i must vote for another human being to represent me or face a penalty.

I see nothing worth supporting when it comes to the UN. I'd like to know what good things they do, because as of now, they seem to be hypocrites telling others to do the things they are unwilling to do. Or they are opurtunistic in trying to craft treaties that they re ready to break but hold the other nations to.

I hope I'm wrong, but it seems like the UNhas become an orginization that holds several things in it's causes. Terror towards Christians (as a general rule), as well as terror to other minorities in Islamic nations. Perscution under the name of tolerance. And economic manipulation and corrupt charities delievering money to warlords, drug lords, and human trafficking industries.

I don't trust the orginization and wonder if the world would be better off if the orginization ended.
