Video game advice?

Ok, so then you are saying you believe in these kind of ideals (sorry, "scriptural abiding" or at least their idea of scriptural abiding)? How do you reconcile that with the fact that you right now are using modern conveniences (electricity, internet, etc) that they do not condone? I've never heard of any Amish who condone these things except those who have been sent out on their rampage of debauchery when they first become adults.
 
that language about them is unnecessary and not helpful for them or anyone. their lives are so much more obedient to Yeshua / Scripture that very few others can hold a light to them (not that some of them may also fall away, as in any group).

if you look up the movie, it explains in part why they (some ) are starting to use 'forbidden' photography, etc.
perhaps even with 'fear and trembling' as it is written in Scripture - perhaps for just a little while, as needed or if needed, Yhwh permitting.

The American version IS somewhat edited for the Western audience, and cultural differences. The cartoon especially, to the point where Pokemon and Pocket Monster are considered separate shows.

I don't see the difference between this and Greek mythology with it's false gods personally (which I was exposed to as a child, even as part of reading in being homeschooled with a Christian curriculum), but it's up to the parents if they're comfortable with that or not.

if one wants to be technical, the fact that Narnia and lotr have magic in them,it could be considered satanic. sheesh, if it offends you then don't watch it.

Hm? If you're referring to me, I wasn't dissing it. ^^; Just bringing up possible problems the OP may or may not have with it. I was only chiming in as someone who's played the games and seen some of the anime, intending to be informative.

Pokemon doesn't offend me in the least. I watch things that are much "worse", and definitely not rated for kids like pokemon is.

added to your position. you should know where I stand on anime. I was watching that long before you ,lol. akira, robotech, etc. both from japan have nudity in them. the American version of robotech didn't. the akira in both versions has nudity.

That is anime in general, yes.

Pokemon, the unedited-by-US Japanese version (known as "Pocket Monster"), may be different, though. Even in Japan it's rated for kids. That said, Japan has a few different ideas about censorship and children than America does.

Yeah, they have different ideas about some of that stuff. I'm told it's also popular to depict schoolgirls with a crush on their teacher. ("Notice me, senpai!")
 
turns man card in for admission of watching a show about princess with magical powers, and hangs head low in shame.
 
All I see is comments about kids having gaming issues try a 41 year old man who plays kingdoms of Camolot , Wartoon, clash of the Titans and diabolo his everyday is wartoon and kingdoms and clash he leaves me when he zones out no qulity time except in summer when we are fishing if its not that he is gaming hours..
 
Video games, like all media, is on a downward trend with its content, IMO. As a parent of kids 19, 16, & 13, I know how hard it is to shelter them from any of these trends. As they get older and connectivity increases, the draw gets more and more unavoidable. Friends are all talking, twitting, and chatting about games they're playing, and they invite their friends to play on line.

Our son plays a lot of warring games on his PS4 on line with his friends, more than I'd like. And this was incremental from innocent games like Earthworm Jim on Playstation 2. It isn't inherently bad for everyone, but it does call for constant connecting by the parents. Of course, that is crucial to parenting teens in general. To the OP, your son isn't there yet, but he will be. Stay connected and keep Christ alive in your house.

You sound like a terrific mom, and for that he is blessed!
 
Creative strategy game? Maybe Pikmin 3.

I would look out for the "Illuminati" though, it appears to be in a lot of Nintendo games (Bayonetta 2, Zelda, Mario, etc.)
 
Personally, I have gotten a lot of enjoyment out of playing games like RollerCoaster Tycoon, Railroad Tycoon, and the like. They let you build either a park (including rollercoasters and other rides), or railroad empires respectively.

I wonder though if this isn't much different than any of us getting addicted to any other thing? For kids, after school sports come to mind. For parents, soap operas or sports on TV come to mind, as does smoking, drinking, gambling, making more money, and a plethora of other things that people become addicted too. I'm not so sure video games in general are as much of the problem as is bad parenting where the kids are largely ignored and warehoused in day care centers, sports programs, and church youth programs while parents openly feed their own addictions.
