Was Paul married? I believe to be a member of the Sanhedrin he was, but I understand Bible does not indicate this.

Was Paul a member of the Sanhedrin?

Was it a requirement of a member of the Sanhedrin to be married and if so how could Paul be a Pharisee and unmarried?

I have always thought about this because, to be a part of the Sanhedrin you had to be about 30 years old and married, because marriage was honer for men. Now was Paul married and his wife died ?

dont think it was a happy marriage :)

1 Corinthians 7
8 But I say to the unmarried and to the widows: It is good for them if they remain even as I am;
9 but if they cannot exercise self-control, let them marry. For it is better to marry than to burn with passion.

This indicates that Paul was single.

At least when he wrote that statement.

Seems the OP assumes that Paul was a member of the Sanhedrin. He was a Pharisee, but there is no indication that he was a member of the Sanhedrin. In Acts 23:6 Paul stood before the Sanhedrin and said that he was a Pharisee.

Interesting side point: when I searched the word "Sanhedrin", I only found verses in the NIV, 19, to be exact. The KJV translates it as "assembly" in Acts 23:6.

Here is the Greek word:
sunedrion
1) any assembly (especially of magistrates, judges, ambassadors), whether convened to deliberate or pass judgment
2) any session or assembly or people deliberating or adjudicating
2a) the Sanhedrin, the great council at Jerusalem, consisting of the seventy one members, viz. scribes, elders, prominent members of the high priestly families and the high priest, the president of the assembly. The most important causes were brought before this tribunal, inasmuch as the Roman rulers of Judaea had left to it the power of trying such cases, and also of pronouncing sentence of death, with the limitation that a capital sentence pronounced by the Sanhedrin was not valid unless it was confirmed by the Roman procurator.
2b) a smaller tribunal or council which every Jewish town had for the decision of less important cases.

If a widow could remain unmarried as Paul was, then Paul could have been a widower.

Spiritually speaking, does this thread have any purpose or are we all just that bored?

I thought of that too, but if we look at the first line of that chapter...

1 Corinthians 7....(NKJV)
1 Now concerning the things of which you wrote to me: It is good for a man not to touch a woman.

...and then skip down to verse 7...

7 For I wish that all men were even as I myself. But each one has his own gift from God, one in this manner and another in that.

Paul said it was good for a man not to touch a woman and then he wished that all men were as himself. If he were a widower...

I really don't know. It's just an observation. Something to chew on.

Isaiah 55....(NKJV)
10 “For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven,
And do not return there,
But water the earth,
And make it bring forth and bud,
That it may give seed to the sower
And bread to the eater,
11 So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth;
It shall not return to Me void,
But it shall accomplish what I please,
And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.

Oh, now I see.
Paul was married twice, divorced twice, had 3 kids, 2 girls and a boy, and died when a boulder fell on his head.
