Inter Movistar gave FC Barcelona an honour guard entrance for the Catalan team’s conquest of the Spanish Cup. Barça Alusport offered up theCup to their fans after showing off why they wonit in the first place: with a stalwart defence, constant movement from the bench, and talented experienced players that decide matches in the final minutes of the game.
Goalless draw at the half
Juanjo and Cristian, the keepers, were the two protagonists of the first half. The duel between the two best squads in the National Futsal League started off with a shot from Wilde which tested Juanjo. Halfway though the first half, Lin and Wilde enjoyed a double chance to open up the scoring, however, they were both denied. Torras, minutes later, hit the right post. These were the best chances for Carmona’s men.
At the other end of the court, Cristian was proving key. First he stopped a free kick from Rafael and laster he denied Eka. The Barça keeper was brilliant, once again, as he saved a one-on-one with Ortiz.
A save from Juanjo from a free kick taken by Wilde in the last minute capped off the half. The two best defences of the championship outshone their offensive counterparts. Both teams knew that a goal was worth its weight in gold.
Wilde, scores. Cristian, injured
This Wednesday’s match was the fourth showdown between Barça Alusport and Inter Movistar; both teams showed that they knew each other to perfection. Wilde, however, broke the deadlock with a perfectly places left-footed shot after a brilliant assist from Ari Santos.
It wasn’t all good news, however. Two minutes after Barça scored, Cristian needed to leave the court with pain in his left leg after a collision with Rafael. The keeper had put in an impeccable performance up to that point, Paco Sedano trotted into goal in his stead.
Inter draws level
On 32 minutes, Rafael scored the equaliser for Inter with a good shot from the top of the box. A minute later, Tobe lost the ball to Wide, who brilliantly beat Juanjo to score his second goal ofthe King’s Cup.
Good result for the return leg
With nearly four minutes to go until the end of the match, Wilde looked to pass the ball but Ortiz deflected it to the back of his own net - it was Barça Alusport’s third goal on the night.
This was an atypical result in this sport, in two-legged ties. The players and the managers knew it, too- Inter didn’t play with a keeper/player, for example. The return leg will be played next April in Alcalá Henares. Barça willgo into the match with a valuable lead.
