I second this question.

I wonder how many lost stay lost while we argue over silly doctrines. Or how many new Christians falter in their faith. All because everyone else was too busy bickering over traditions and denominational doctrines.

whenever i post a thread like this it gets ignored

People want to argue.....

I don't have the best post, but i do believe some people are arguing unessential point and causing distensions

If your goal is not of faith to Glorify God, stop now.

Amen.
You ask a good question though and post a very good point. The more arguing that goes on here the more clear it is that all denominations are serving to do is divide the Church even further. I personally don't see why people will argue if the teaching is not unbiblical. There can be friendly debate, but I see more friendliness in worldy debates than I do Christian.

Good question. I don't understand the reasons behind many of the threads here. Some of them seem to be for no other reason than to be negative and tear down those with opposing views.

Preterism is the belief that most or all prophecies concerning the end times have already been fulfilled.

I agree that this definition is correct. As the above definition arguably implies, there are "degrees" of preterism.

For example, while I believe that Matthew 24 was fulfilled in the first century, I certainly also believe that the return of Jesus lies in the future.

I started a thread along these lines, . . . but it ended up the same way. People fighting over who was right. I found it comical.

Whenever I hear this question I am drawn to 1 Corinthians. We have been arguing over tradition and doctrine since the beginning. Does it really matter? As long as we believe the truth.

We are all sinners and fall short of the glory of God.
The wages of sin is death e.g., eternal separation from God
Jesus, the unblemished Lamb of God, died to pay the penalty for our sins.
We are saved by faith in Jesus Christ.

Does the rest really matter?

Amen.

I agree with the OP and with you in whole, but I'll say this. I've been a part of secular boards, and it got viscous. There weren't live moderators, so pretty much anything went. You really had to learn to dismiss much of what you read, because it got very personal and nothing was deleted.

Considering what we're dealing with here, I believe it's natural to assume that there will be very strong feelings. But I agree it gets out of hand, and it would be better if people knew when to just say, "We disagree. Our salvation isn't contingent on this.", and move on to the next thing. I suspect that there aren't too many members here who are luke-warm in their faith, so you have a group of people who take this very seriously. To that point, I'm glad to be a part of a group of people who do care enough to not accept everything they read. I've been in Bible study groups where there was just a lot of shoulder-shrugging, and they weren't very inspiring to be a part of. In keeping with the ToS, if members refrained from criticizing the person, as opposed to the belief, we wouldn't have most of our problems.

Deavonreye, for all of the questions that you posed in separate threads, your comment here was disappointing to say the least. If someone is here for amusement, that doesn't seem like a very productive use of time. :gah

i fully agree

i came here originally to get a good place to build or debate political issues so that i could vote according to what a christian ought to support. but i got more then i bargained.

:)

the problem here oats is that the end times isnt so simple as we all like to assume.
the more you learn the less you know.but there is learning and that is the most important thing

Sorry if it sounded that way. I am using the NON-funny version of "comical". The "we have spiritual discernment to know what is right" coming from both sides.

This is a board for learning and interaction it is normal for this kind of stuff to be on a board such as this.

still, i have debated this with faithtransforms:
kenneth copeland and his teachings
post-trib and pre-trib
and also eternal security

and yet somehow only once did it get ugly and i decided not to allow that with my friend.

we found much in common and start from there. and learned .
is that too much to ask from some here???

But all I am trying to say is, with a board such as this you should expect debates, you should expect the occasional arguments & disagreements. Many, many people come through here with all kinds of personalities and issues. So there you have it.

I agree it was fair if brief defintion . I will add that every christian must be preterist, as all must believe Christ is the one God sent ,as per the prophets,

Any one who believes in fulfilled prophecy meets the technical definition. As Drew pointed out it commonly refers to eschatological views, but not necessarily so.
