We are continuing our daily Bible studies with the Gospel of Matthew. We have just completed the Book of Genesis. jasonc, suggested that we study Matthew and then go back into the Old Testament for a study in Exodus. Reba and I would love to have any member of CF.net join us in this in depth study with your comments, questions and just good fellowship. For those who are returning for this study, we will welcome all who decide to study with us. So come for a slow study, no hurry to rush thru this fantastic Gospel.
 
I noticed that matthew one starts with the book of the generation of Christ. I believe luked used the lxx and also temple records to make the connection. but matthew used the Hebrew tanach and also the temple record.

I'm encouraged because my old Buddy Mike is going to join us in the study of Matthew. I hope others will join with us as well.

Thanks Reba, Mike helped me immensely when I first started posting. I remember some very good info on the great sin of Job. It really helped me to see more clearly Job's situation. His great sin was fear.

Translation:

Tanach - All the books from B'resheet to Davari Hayamim - Bet
lxx (sometimes LXX) - The Tanach used by the talmidim in the first century

I guess I didn't explain it well enough.

The Torah starts with B'resheet and ends with Devarim. The Nevi'im goe from Yehoshuah to Mal'aki and the Ketuvim start with Tehillim and go on to Davari Hayamim - Bet.

Tanach (sometimes transliterated as "Tanak")is the Hebrew term for what Christians usually call the Old Testament. It is an acronym from the words "Torah" (Law), "Nevi'im" (Prophets) and "Ketuvim" (Writings).
LXX is the Roman numeral 70, and is an abbreviation for the Septuagint, which was a Greek version of the Hebrew Scriptures, which was translated by 70 rabbis, hence the name.

I believe I want to get back in here, now. This looks to be in depth again and I was burned out after the year in Genesis with my class.
