I was speaking: supposedly. I still know my intent.
The intent is obvious - (pardon my speaking for you) but it seems you want to know more about God and how He views our relationships. Going to the start of all relationships and reading God's Word about the first man and his soon-to-be wife makes perfect sense to me.
I've done the exact same thing. I trust God and recall that He said that He reveals the end from the beginning. There is so much to learn from Genesis (the book of beginnings). I am uncertain how it could ever be fully explored. The thing that I notice behind it all (so to speak) is God's plan for Adam, the one whom He loved. Before introducing Adam to his mate, God brought all the animals to him and allowed him to name them. Adam was honored by God in this fashion. Before even bringing the animals to Adam, God had said, "It is not good for man to be alone." Of course, our Father will not notice something without acting - so he showed the man something.
"And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him."
- Genesis 2:20 KJV
I think that God showed what He was planning to do by first showing (in the most gentle fashion possible) what he lacked. Imagine a new creation. All that was created was pronounced "Good" - Recall from the previous chapter (Gen 1) how often God had seen what was done and saw that it was good. "And God called the dry [land] Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that [it was] good." - Genesis 1:10 KJV The only thing that we are told about that wasn't "good" was if man should continue to be alone." "And the LORD God said, [It is] not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him." - Genesis 2:18 KJV
That's when God brought the animals to him and that's how Adam was given the hint of what God was planning to do for him. He noticed that there were no animals that were like him. It was then that God caused a sleep to fall on him. I can't help but wonder if Adam had a dream. I'm certain that if he did, he could not have imagined what was soon to happen. It's similar to our state now. We don't know what we will be. We can try to imagine but it has not yet even entered into our minds, what God has planned. Can we imagine waking to eternity and what it will be like, being united with our Great God. The Holy Spirit gives us but a taste of what is promised.
This is the "taste" or "hint" that I imagine that Adam may have dreamed about. Did Adam dream that God might make "Something-like-him"??? What could this have meant to the first man, who had never seen a woman? It is the same for us today: We know not what we shall be, but we shall be like HIM. (see 1John 3:1-3). How can we help but wonder what it is that God has planned. In this way, we see the end from the beginning, and we know that God is God.
"Remember this, and shew yourselves men: bring [it] again to mind, O ye transgressors. Remember the former things of old: for I [am] God, and [there is] none else; [I am] God, and [there is] none like me, Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times [the things] that are not [yet] done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:"
- Isaiah 46:8-10 KJV
While looking at the beginning we are able to follow the command given later by the Holy Spirit, through the Apostle John. In 1st John, chapter 3 we are told to "
BEHOLD". We are commanded to look at something.
Let us look upon the love that God has for us. Let us gaze inquisitively into the very PLAN that has been fortold! "Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not. Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure." - 1 John 3:1-3 KJV
Today, we see as through a mirror - darkly. What can be seen from the beginning is a reflection of what will be seen in the end. It's not about "sex" - it's about union and the creation of that which is suited (fit for purpose). We are being fitted to the purpose of God even now - even while the mirror is still dark. Yet soon the day will be upon us and the time of singing will be here.
