What are your thoughts on modesty?

GOD Bles you !!!

(she mistakes love for lust in marriage)

Love she has , and does not glorify GOD,

how sad.

2 Sam 6:20-23

20 Then David returned to bless his household. And Michal the daughter of Saul came out to meet David, and said, "How glorious was the king of Israel today, uncovering himself today in the eyes of the maids of his servants, as one of the base fellows shamelessly uncovers himself!" 21 So David said to Michal, "It was before the LORD, who chose me instead of your father and all his house, to appoint me ruler over the people of the LORD, over Israel. Therefore I will play music before the LORD. 22 And I will be even more undignified than this, and will be humble in my own sight. But as for the maidservants of whom you have spoken, by them I will be held in honor." 23 Therefore Michal the daughter of Saul had no children to the day of her death.

Thank you Asaph for posting those verses. Great point, too.

I think it was Dave who said anyone who incites lust is in sin and wavy who said my mother had indeed incited lust while she was in the hospital. I wish you guys could spend one day as a female to experience the crap we have to put up with...if you did you would better understand my reaction to those comments.

When I stand before God...I have complete confidence that He won't say one thing about any clothes I wore...or didn't wear. He'll see His Son Jesus...who will stand in my place and I'm pretty sure everything Jesus wore was within the Kingdom Dress Code....even when He hung naked on the cross.

I will say that the longer I am in relationship with Jesus, the more He exposes the motivation of my heart.
He's not so much interested in the 'what', as He is the 'WHY'. He searches the inmost parts of our hearts, He see's the motivation behind our actions that no one else can see.
He knows if we are seeking to bring glory to ourselves instead of Him.
God is a 'consuming fire', he will eventually consume everything in our lives that is birthed from our own pride, he will call what we once got away with to the forfront and deal with it as we mature in Him.

"Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and (die), it abideth alone: but if it (die), it bringeth forth much fruit."

Our life can't be to our own glory, but to His. The hardest thing in the world is to 'die' and give up (my) glory.

Destiny, I so absolutely agree with what you have said here. The Lord is speaking to me in this area, and desiring that I have a teachable heart...we are none perfect in any area, are we? I sort of pondered this yesterday, throughout my day again, and I think that God just truly wants me to be teachable, and have a heart of obedience to Him alone. There is never enough to know about what God says in specific matters of our life, and it is always a challenge to remember that I do not know it all. Your words were beautiful, humbling, and convicting. When I find myself doing the hypothetical tit for tat, and thinking of others as too liberal-minded, and even others as self-righteous...I am once again reminded that God's Word is only what matters, and He is teaching ME...the tit for tat only exposes the desire to glorify myself...thank you for reminding me to die to that daily...what a blessing, and ecouragement, I have had because of your words. Thank you, sister. The Lord bless you. I am thankful for your sweet, sweet, spirit.

Actually, I would say that even in marriage we need to watch it. Our spouse could become nothing more then an object of sexual fulfillment. We need to cherish the spouse and the sexual feelings would spring from a deeper respect and love of that person for who they are.

Which is one of the reasons marriages fail. When the "thrill is gone" people in marriage relationships have little else to "fall back" on, so relationship boredom sets in. One or both partners may turn to extra-marital relationships to satisfy their sexual "cravings".

David Jeremiah once defined "cravings" this way:

"An ever-increasing desire for an ever-diminishing pleasure", which I beleive he got from C.S. Lewis.

Yeah, I figured.

David was dancing. That was his "uncovering". He looked like a fool in front of the servants and other people of lower status. He was leaping etc.

This has nothing to do with him being naked . The word for "naked" does not even appear in this passage. It doesn't even appear in 2 Samuel.

Sorry...

Not really.

You snatched that completely out of the context of which I said it in. Please go and read.

This is the silliest thing I have ever heard and this is what most of those from various forms of liberal Christianity believe. I'm done.

Sorry my rear. You cannot reconcile it so you dismiss it? How sad.

The rest of are not blind to what the clear meaning of the scripture is.

I will allow you your gopher trail. Yes. They were meaningless.

Your words mean not one thing against the weight of salvation. But you persist still don't you. If I was in your shoe's that would scare the hell out of me. Thankfully, and alas, I am not.

I would bet God would allow me to pray for you though. If I were you, I'd take that bet.

I don't recall salvation having anything to do with this topic...

Well, even though this was intended to be offensive, I would take this bet. Nothing wrong with some one praying for you. Some people't aren't so fortunate.

No hard feelings.

Be cool.

Again, what makes you think that was intended to be offensive? How far away is that?

Then I sin every day as I lust after my husband and he lusts after me and I have no shame about it either :)

I don't know if "lust" would be the proper term, per say, but this is not sin. It is sanctified by Torah (which is another reason why Torah cannot be done away with because this means we can't get married!)

Anyway:

Genesis 2:24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.

We see the implications of what becoming one flesh is...

So Adam and Eve weren't married?

actually no...it's both love and lust! And yes it is lust, but because it's with my spouse and him with me then it is not a sin.

I've been married for 10 years, I think, by now I would know the difference ;)

Here here! I would love some of the men here to spend ONE DAY in the shoes of a women ;)

At first I had no clue of what you were saying. But now I see. You are talking about my comment on the Torah (if Torah wasn't given yet, how could they be married?)

Psalm 119:89 For ever, O יהוה, thy word is settled in heaven.
