actually if said brown out occured both mexico and canada would also be hit.

i work with a city owned power grid and we are connected to the larger fpl grid and also dont run our plant as we buy and resell(all grids do this) from other cities hundred of miles away. we were directly connected to the city to the south so that if ours or thier plant went down we could assist with a restart.

years ago fpl would buy from us and vice versa often was the reverse.

currently the local nuke plant powers atlanta,ga. im south by several hundred miles. it never runs at full capacity.

I'm wondering why no one has brought up the fact that if we had a particularly devastating solar flare that it would cause radiation and possibly render the soil un-usable for planting seeds, or trying to raise livestock. Meaning a famine.

In the movie 'The Road' and 'The Book of Eli', in both movies people resorted to cannibalism. In the book of eli, people would check each others hands to see if they were shaking. The reason why is because when you eat human meat, after a while it causes the nervous system to break down in the body. It's called Kuru disease, and it is real. The movie didn't make it up. So, if we ever end up in a situation where people are eating each other, you'll know when someone is a cannibal. However, Kuru doesn't show symptoms until years later... So, when it first happens and people are eating each other, you won't know when someone is a cannibal for up to 10 years.

I think the anti-christ will come before a solar flare that ends up being an apocalypse. God does instruct us to flee to the mountains when the anti-christ comes. I think the mark will end up being a computer chip, like what people put in their animals.

By the way, the word apocalypse doesn't mean the end of the world. It just simply means that something so big happens, that it is life changing. Getting married is an apocalypse, having children, family members dying, the rapture, the anti-christ coming... It's all an apocalypse. I don't like it when people refer to the end of the world as an apocalypse, because it seems that people don't know what the word really means.

the words apocholypse has the connotation of revealing as in revealing a statue that was hidden. if we look at the last book that way. we have much to give thanks for vs fear!

Even if you were trained in such measures there isn't enough ariable land to support the population as is without modern machinery or modern farming techniques. Whitch is why it would be a disaster by any measure. Alot of elderly pepole would die come first winter from peumonia

I have a bow and arrows and I can aim and shoot reasonably well. but my arrows are field arrows not hunting arrows (whitch are generally illegal here in the UK) thus would be prone to snapping... and I don't know howto fix a fletch to a wooden spar without using glue. And I have no idea what to do when my bowstrings wore out :/

when your bowstrings wear out either learn to skin and tan leather so as to make a less effective leather cord(functional but not powerful small deer about the best you'd manage) or go with an atlatl a prehistoric spear throwing device capable of hurling a spear or arrow like device powerfully enough to bring down amid size game. if going with the leather route i would suggest checking out ehow for instructions on how to braid the string/leather. pit traps(see also tiger traps) are also viable both as protection and food gathering. or the old stand by fishing.

I like my car too much to go without electrons and power, but that's another story. LOL
