What did you give/get for Christmas?

So it's been a few days. Wondering if anyone wanted to share about their gift giving and getting.

I got a notebook pc. So far it is restarting itself and blaming open office since it didn't come with word. Windows 8 is trying my patience. Not saying I don't appreciate the gift though ;)

I called my Mom's favorite weather caster and got a signed picture of her. She was happy. I also got her a custom shower curtain and she was less than thrilled. Opps.

The cat pin was hit.... a little peace of jewelry that looks like our D-I-L s very old cat....

I got coal! windows 8

My wife and I get gifts for each other throughout the year as money permits.
We often say, "this is your Christmas gift".

The real story I want to share is my granddaughter.
Ashley got married in August.
She married a very nice man.
They both have good jobs and a bright future.
When I talked to her on Christmas, I said, "So what did your new husband get you for Christmas"?
Her response blew me away!

"Well, we decided not to do Christmas this year. We know 2 families that had nothing, so we decided to help them with the money we had for each other".

Well I just started praising God for this and haven't stopped!

What a wonderfully heart-warming act of generosity on the part of your granddaughter & her new husband, allenwynne! Such a blessing!

Thank you for sharing this with us!

I got an English bible. "The Message" translation, I really love it. It's so refreshing to read this contemporary language version, I didn't have so much fun reading God's word in years!!
I hope that's gonna motivate me to do daily Bible studies again. Wish there was an awesome contemporary German translation, too, but those that we have are either silly or dull (language-wise).

Also it's my first English bible, I have bibles in all kinds of language on my bookshelfes, but I didn't ever have an English one before.

Wow that's really great! That's the best thing about having money- you can give it away to make people happy!

I bought a German bible years ago.

I believe God will put a German speaking person in my path someday that will want it.

Don't get me (or Reba) on a Windows 8 tirade again! :toofunny

And then I get on one of my Linux soapboxes afterwards (I'll spare this forum, just get the idea in the tech section).

Got my wife an ipad mini. She loves it. No attitudes (so far) using the Mac OS. Not too expensive, either. A great, fully functional mini-computer to take with you on trips.

My dad didn't get to open his gift. :sad

I got some art supplies and a bunch of new music (with an iTunes gift card). Quite a bit more than that, actually. My mom likes to buy a bunch of gifts.
I got her a cross necklace, and painted something for her.

Got some stuff for my friends, too, but most of them haven't gotten them yet. They'll get them next time I see them.

Got my wife a rather neat votive holder (holds five of them on a branch like thing).

Haven't gotten anything, yet. Though, I am planning on buying a raspberry pi and turning my tv into a media center pc with it. Will also be upgrading our home computer. Long overdue, and is currently limping along.

Really sorry; it's this kind of detail that can be sad, when people are going through circumstances such as you and your family are.

A good verse: 'Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him, endured the cross' (Hebrews 12.2).
