What Do You Think Of This

Even though I know all of those Scriptures' there is just something about the way he said it' that I don't like.
Exactly to me also. I can quote "Jesus wept" and comment He could not have been manly. Knowing His friend Lazarus was sick Jesus allowed him to die; where is the compassion? Many atheists use these manner of discourse concerning the things of God. Outright attacks avail little but a turnoff to any loving God, but to plant an idea using scripture that Jesus is little more than we were produces legitimacy to their seed of confusion.

E.g., Heb 4:15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.

Mat 1:23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

Php 2:6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
Php 2:7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
Php 2:8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

I could go on and on with this, but to do so I would start another thread. Blessings in Christ Jesus.

And as for the omniscience of the Lord here is my experience.
A long time ago' I heard a pastor on the radio say' God did not know everything and he used this Scripture. Pay attention to the words ( Now I Know ) in the below verse 12. I was sitting there listening to this guy' so I grabbed my Bible to see what he was talking about. Now being a young Christian at the time' it threw me for a loop. Now there is another one in the OT' but I forgot where it was.

KJV Genesis 22:12
12 And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son, from me.

Lewis, my thought on that is that God does not force us to love Him. We must give Him our love freely and willingly. I believe that once God saw that Abraham was about to sacrifice his son out of his love for God, he confirmed what God already knew.

Yes but this guy' was really saying that God does not know everything' according to that verse. Now a young Christian' can be thrown of the trail behind such teachings.

I can believe this coming from a Jesuit Priest who is unlike many Born-again Catholics.

1. John 1:44-51 Nathanael could not believe the Messiah would come from such an obscure town as many believed Messiah would be that of a Priestly well to do lineage. But look at what Nathanael said in verse 49 as he claims Jesus being the son of God.

Matthew 2:23; Luke 2:39-51; Mark 1:9; Luke 4:16-30 all speak about Nazareth, but those of the synagogue rejected Jesus as the Messiah.

2. Luke 4:32 And they were astonished at his doctrine: for his word was with power.......if you read vs. 46-52 you will see that Jesus was sitting in the temple hearing what was spoken, but also questioning what was being taught as he already had the knowledge and wisdom of God

Mark 7:24 Jesus was saying that the Jews first needed taught in order to take the word out to the Gentiles for the time of the Gentiles was not yet, but a few Gentiles did pick up some of what Jesus was teaching like a dog that picks up the crumbs off the floor.

3. Yes, Jesus did labor with his father until the time of fulfillment came for him to go our into the world to start his ministry.

4. I agree that Jesus needed time for himself as the human part of man that needs a time of refreshing.

5. It wasn't that Jesus was afraid to die because he knew his ministry and the outcome of his own life here on earth. He was sorrowful for the fact that he would be totally separated from God for the first time while he was taking all the sin of the world upon himself. Matthew 27:45, 46; Hab 1:13; Romans 8:6-8 all show that God turns away from sin. This is why he spoke those words in Matthew 26:38, 39; John 12:27
