What Does Bible Say About Tithing?

We are quite possibility in the time where the church is like the Laodicean church. The church today, as was the Laodicean church, is rich and increased with goods and have need of nothing(hard to top a jet plane). However God sees it differently, Jesus said,"you know not that you are WRETCHED, and MISERABLE,and POOR,and BLIND,and NAKED.

God blesses those who prove trustworthy in finances with more, because He can trust such people to pour their wealth into His work, investing in people for His sake.

Read the Parable of the Servants, Luke 19.

thats in the kingdom age not the here and now.

copeland thinking.

what part of some now matter what cant handle large amounts of mulah and its like a drug to them dont you get?

seriously. for me and some way worse its like praying for a sexy model of a wife thats a christian.

and yes in some cases he does add responsibility that but that isnt always with money

and riddle me this why isnt the chinese rich? that are christians? surely they have the faith or the poorer dhalits that have the bible given to them by missionairies?

Individual churches that seek God and obey Him He is pleased with. Those who do it well, He blesses.

Proverbs 10:22 NLT
The blessing of the Lord makes a person rich,
and he adds no sorrow with it.

Do these verses seem to fit Jason?

1Ti 6:7 For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.
1Ti 6:8 And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.
1Ti 6:9 But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.
1Ti 6:10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
1Ti 6:11 But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.
1Ti 6:12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.

No, it is now. Jesus needs His generous Church to give and bless the world.

needs us? you .. wow.

jesus is able to raise men of the stones to be faithful.

if he is waiting us to do his work for him then that thought is wrong

he allows us to join him in his work not the otherway around.

he doenst need us but we need him.

and i have learned this from my old pastor give what you can and God multiplies. i have seen it

He needs His Body to behave as His Body. If you don't want to do His work, then He will use someone else who is willing.

Read the Parable of the Servants, Luke 19.

I see this parable talking of the manifestation of the Holy Spirit, not money, the same lesson of this can be seen in Matthew 25, with the 10 virgins.
1 Peter 4:10 As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.

We are given gifts for service, the more we use our gifts for Him, the more we receive, the more we manifest Christ. Kind of similar to "let your lights shine, don't put it under a barrel". We all receive the same, but we don't all grow in our faith in the same manner, we are not all prepared for His coming.

We should be prepared for His coming! It is sad that many will not be.

really, why was the command by paul that to the rich that are in the church and why didnt he teach them that surely the apostles knew?

jason,
He does need us because we are His Body, we are supposed to be doing His work, as we all work together. How can His work get done without a Body?

work myself to death so that i can give more.

that is god's work?

no thanks. is that what you say?

i know my friend says that isnt

LOL I did not say work yourself to death. Your job is not necessarily God's work, your work for God is your witnessing, being on this forum, perhaps giving your time to other people, serving in your church, being a light for Him, using the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
That is what kind of work I am talking about and when we do His work then we are blessed (and I am not referring to finances, althought it could be), we are preparing ourselves for His coming, we are using His Body as He wants you to, we are manifesting Christ - isn't that THE work we are called to do?

i know that but she says it like he waits on us.

that he is helpless. and that he cant multiply what little you give that is what i am saying.

we dont have to work for money in order to give.

i know that but she comes across as we must have large amounts of money to help.

Can you rephrase that, please?

paul gave specific commands to the rich in timothy and also he didnt say to the poor go and pray for income so that you can make money

please clarify.

when we do for God does this mean we have to be blessed with money so that we can give more?

surely we can give to God and let him bless as he sees fit.

and work the vocation were a called into in the body and he will bless there.

you are confusing me.

God certainly isn't helpless. Don't forget you are in a relationship with God. He blesses you with gifts. Why? For you to squander on yourself? No. To increase the Kingdom. That is His will for us all who know Him. Yep, he waits on us to comply. If we don't, He will allow us to mess up until we learn to draw close to Him, and to seek His will, and desire to do it.

That is why He is LONGSUFFERING.

He multiplies what we give Him, you are right! Money is something that Jesus talked about more than any other topic. It is obviously inordinately important to us, isn't it? He wants us to loosen our grip on dollars, and let Him have His way with them.

i know that but she comes across as we must have large amounts of money to help.
I agree with you, the gifts of the Holy Spirit are free and we use them freely. We can manifest Christ on a very low budget. :)
