What Does Bible Say About Tithing?

I recently read an article entitled "Muzzle That Ox or Just Don't Give Them Any Money!" Muzzle That Ox!! that I found very interesting that discussed this subject.
I made me wanna start a thread to discuss and so that we could enlighten one another on the subject of the tithe. What is it? Who should participate?

Years ago we took our tithe money (gasp) and bought a bunch of burgers and went out to the streets to feed the street people. I'm telling you and I lie not, the anointing of the Holy Spirit was more powerful than we ever felt it in the church.
Why was that u ask. Because we were doing what God told us to do.
After a while we couldn't do it anymore because I was back to putting my tithe into the offering plate. We couldn't afford it anymore. Because we were to dumb to see what it was all about, we gave up that awesome ministry altogether. It was very painful and sad but we were suppose to obey the pastor and give that money to him. Right?
Once I got delivered from churchianity, I started listening to the Spirit on my giving.
Example: one time I was at a grocery store. I saw these little Mexican children at the self checkout paying for their few groceries. About 5 of them ranging from about 5 to 8 years old, boys and girls.
My heart went out to them. I felt sad for they were dressed in rags. As I walked out I saw their father waiting in the foyer.
I felt the nudge of the Holy Spirit. I reached in my pocket and pulled out what money I had, enough for their groceries and handed it to him saying 'God loves you, deosToyama I think. He smiled saying gracias. I got half way across the parking lot when I felt a pair of very small arms wrap around my leg. I stopped to look and it was one of those children, a little fellow hugging my leg. Before I knew it the other children were all over me hugging me. Thanking me in Spanish.
I felt a tear coming to my eye. I saw the dad back by the store smiling at me.I waved at him and the children as they parted.
You cannot put a price on that moment. A moment that God allowed me to be a part of? A moment I'll have for the rest of my life.
That's how God wants to use us. Remember the poor. Hear His voice. Be instant in season, out of season. Look for those opportunities. Spirit led. Don't hand out money to just anybody. Fine tune your spiritual ear To His clear voice.
Example: I gave some money to a poor individual one time and I got a check in my spirit. God told me 'you shouldn't have given him that.' I learned my lesson.

What would it be like if every Christian were to walk in the Spirit? One thing. Everybody's needs would be met.
