What does "mother of God" mean...

Its from Babylon the queen of heaven was considered the mother of God.. as Catholicism is a carry over from Babylon.. Best not to open that can of worms.. if you want an education on that subject book a trip to Mexico..

Well what confuses me here is that the controversy over this term happened in the east...in Syria and Turkey...the church in Rome had no official dogma regarding this phrase until after the consensus reached at Ephesus in 431 A.D. (also in the east though western Bishops attended some from Rome but the main arguments in favor of the phrase came from Alexandria...
I believe it is because the priests and bishops in the east all wore funny hats.

They had their wafer gods in Babylon similar to the wafer god we have today and drank drink offerings to their gods as they do at their religious ceremony also known as Mass. Here we have an example straight out of Gods word and how he felt about it then i can just imagine how He must feel about it now..

Jeremiah 7:18 The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead their dough, to make cakes to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto other gods, that they may provoke me to anger.

mother of God queen of heaven balderdash!

They also used the phrases "King of kings" and "sons of the Els" (like our "beni-Elohim") very commonly in those early post-Noahic cultures...and some offered prayers and worship (1000 years before Israel)...shouldn't we do away with these as well? The devil is such a great counterfeiter...

Now that he has created many alternative Jesus's (in our time) and many false Messiah's...maybe balderdash to these as well? Wouldn't you say, I mean according to this reasoning.... ??? And in the end time when he offers the false trinity maybe of course we will have to eliminate this understanding as well...I mean according to this reasoning...

Boy! If we allow the adversary's shenanigans to dictate to us what we do or not profess that will not leave much to Christianity...

The FIRST thing I thought about when I read that is Benny Hinn. That last sentence seems as if you also had that in mind.

Sorry for the derail, but it is germane to your derail! :lol

You mean TOB's derail (as it was he who introduced the Babylonians)...and the point is we do NOT let the adversary's shenanigans dictate our practices and beliefs...and Benny, to me, is a false prophet (I never heard him repent of his false prophecies)...I do not listen to him though God uses him at times (but then again He used a donkey once, right?)

Mother of God only means that Mary birthed that of Christ as she was a pure vessel highly favored of the Lord just as Elizabeth was for this purpose of fulfilling Messiah come in the flesh. Jesus is that very Spirit of God come in the flesh/word made flesh to walk amongst us. Mary was called blessed above all other women only because God chose her like he chooses each and everyone of us for His timing and purpose that makes us blessed of God.
