What happened? Haked? Glitched? Overload? Someone making an error in code? Server fried? Dollars dried? What?

The site was down for everyone and displayed a simple error message. I want to know details, the cute seal meme isn't exactly comprehensive.

And why did it take so long to get the site back up?
 
It’s complicated…
At the end of the day, it is what it is. Please be thankful we didn’t loose more, or all of it.

Measures are being put in place to mitigate this type of incident in the future.
