What happens to those who have never heard of Jesus?

For example, a pagan tribe in Africa that has never had the opportunity to hear the Good News. What happens to them?

Rev 20:11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.
Rev 20:12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

This occurs after the Millenium. The dead who have never had a chance are resurrected to 100 years of human life and the same choice is set before them as all others get...

Deu 30:19 I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:

Notice in verse 12 the books (biblion) are opened. Which books? All 66 of 'em...

Mat 13:11 He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.
Mat 13:12 For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath.
Mat 13:13 Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.
Mat 13:14 And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive:
Mat 13:15 For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.
Mat 13:16 But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear.

Today is not the only day of salvation. These people get 100 years to make the same decision...

Isa 65:20 There shall be no more thence an infant of days, nor an old man that hath not filled his days: for the child shall die an hundred years old; but the sinner being an hundred years old shall be accursed.

There is a general resurrection of those who have not had a chance and they are given a chance. This is not a second chance, it is their first chance.

Rom 1:19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.
Rom 1:20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

I think people know they might not know, what we would call the "correct' words. But they know...

Edited. Why then the commission of Mk.16:15,16 and Matt.28:19-20. Lets just stay home and keep warm by the fireplace. Read Romans 10.

So, how much of that commission was preached 4000 years ago in China? Whaddya do with them, burn 'em?

Hi Hawisher and welcome to CG.net.

Genesis 18:25 Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right? Would God judge someone He didn't reveal Himself to?

Romans 1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;

Romans 1:19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.

Romans 1:20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

Then why the Great Commission? Why must the Gospel be preached?

Simply because He said so.....

His kingdom has been growing for over 2000 years.... Things changed a lot at the Cross.

What about this one?

Act 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

that leave out anyone prior to Christ?

So does that mean all those who died before Christ will not be resurrected to be with him forever who loved God? Wow, that would make Abraham, Jacob, Issac etc. etc. headed for the fires of hell then. How do we even know that hidden tribes have no connection to God as only God knows the intents of the heart.

The number one thing people ask me when debating this is "What about the innocent people in Africa who have never heard of God?" First of all, there is not one innocent person on this planet, we have all sinned regardless of who you are and what you know. Secondly, if God pardoned those who didn't hear his word, then spreading the Gospel would be the WORST thing you could do for their salvation! Hence, Jesus wouldn't have told us to spread it at all.

I believe that some are more innocent than others.

As a matter of fact, I am willing to bet that if someone murdered one of your loved ones, was caught, and was sentenced to what is comparable to a petty thief's sentence, that wouldn't sit too well with you. I am willing to bet that you wouldn't say, "Hey, there is not one innocent person on this planet, so I might as well paint all crimes with the same brush".

Really? Let's test your theory.

Have you ever lied? Stolen something? Lusted after a women in your heart? God judges us not only by our actions, but by our thought life. So give me an example of a man who hasn't committed adultery. Give me an example of a man who hasn't committed murder (by hating another in his heart).

YES I would condemn EVERYONE the same, because there is not ONE that is innocent. God has a law, and when you break it, you are punished. The bible is clear, so if you are trying to argue that there will be some spared according to their works, then prove it. Give me a verse? If your trying to argue that some will be punished differently because they have been "better" than others, then give me a verse?

Are you questioning our God? He has declared the punishment for criminals who do not seek salvation, which is hell fire. I am sorry, but no one will receive half heaven and half hell fire because they were "better." Either you enter heaven by faith and repentance in Jesus, our savior, or you are given a punishment.

Standing before our God as a thieving, blasphemous, lying adulterer will not prove your case for those who you think are more innocent than others.

All I am saying is that if someone murders a loved one, your reaction will not be the same as if someone stole a dollar. Quit pretending that it would.

You ever read the O.T.?

Gen 18:1 And the LORD appeared unto him in the plains of Mamre: and he sat in the tent door in the heat of the day;

Sounds to me like Abraham knew the Lord. I won't bore you by going through and showing that there were individuals that Christ dealt with, but here is another example...

1Co 10:1 Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;
1Co 10:2 And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea;
1Co 10:3 And did all eat the same spiritual meat;
1Co 10:4 And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.

Hmmm, seems at this time, all of Israel saw Christ.

Exo 20:1 And God spake all these words, saying,

God spoke directly to the people.

The great commission didn't exist 4,000 yrs. ago in China.

Exactly, so what is the fate of those people?

God was not working with them at that time, He wasn't even working with all of Israel when He came the first time...

Mat 13:10 And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables?
Mat 13:11 He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.
Mat 13:12 For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath.
Mat 13:13 Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.

He is not working with all today...

Rom 11:32 For God hath concluded them all in unbelief, that he might have mercy upon all.

To everyone?

Act 2:39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

Just to the ones God calls.
