What if...

I've wondered lately just how we might all react to each other if we met in a conference room or most of us were caught unaware in a situation that might put us togehter...not knowing anyone was from this forum. With all the bickering between Catholics and Protestants, Gnostics and Atheist you would think that's all we have to do with our evenings is "fuss and fight" on here everynight.

Who knows-many of us might come to actually like each other if the circumstances were different and didn't know each other by D46, Stove Bolts, Solo, destiny, etc. Just maybe Roger, Bill, Becky and Susan instead. Someone may even like photography and black powder shooting like me. Or perhaps some would come to find that several may like golf(yuk!) or even bowling. I've discovered long ago that the two largest contributors to arguments and discention among folks is the subject of religion, bible translations and politics. I personally don't give a flip about politics and won't argue/debate over that at all; but some do.

I guess I was just thinking out loud with this post and just wondered if anyone else had ever had this cross their minds. Maybe in light of the fact that at nearly 61 now, a bit of mellowness is beginning to set in. :)

I don't know. I don't talk religion with people, I was taught not to. If there too many arguments, I would grab a book.

One thing I never talk about is the Trinity (except on this board). Almost all Christians I have met accept it as truth so I never thought about discussing it. :-D Most men I have known discuss sports and women talk about relationships.

Nope-no reason at all. Just some names that popped into my head.

There's nothing like bringing up the good ole 'three in one' in a gathering of friends. Ahem - ex friends

But isn't it wonderful how you can have fellowship with brothers and sisters in the Lord. We can testify to answered prayer, praise God for his many blessings, abundant life and amazing grace. We all accept one another warts and all - but mention the 'T' word and some want to say, 'Your'e a child of satan.'

Ah, there's nothing like seeing the white in their eye. :P

LOL mutz...you just can't leave well enough alone! :-D
Honestly, i've never been in any situations like what goes on in this forum. I don't 'hate' anybody based on their beliefs, in fact I can't think of anybody that I hate or ever hated in the true sense of the word.
I get along with most anybody, and have friends from all walks of life. I am humorous, and real serious people make me uncomfortable.
Theres no criteria that I know of for being my friend, I guess vital signs will do.
I'm pretty bold when it comes to spiritual matters, and a little shy in general conversation. Honestly, i'm a bit of a loner.
I'm very private and am not open with feelings or personal matters (I admire that in Nikki) ...I wish I could be more like that.
Thats why I don't give out personal info on the internet.
So there.

Great question and post.

I could honestly say, That I would be the same person face to face as I am on the board.
I love teaching bible, so I am always talking about it, or preaching, I rebuke when its called for, Correct when its called for and pray and lay hands on a person as the spirit leads me to no matter where I am at..

My wife tells my I need to learn finess, but I have found that most people appreciate my straight forwardness..

Oh, Yes, I also recieve rebukes when I am out of line
Just being honest. :)

Hmmm
I suspect that if I were to show up I would get lynched :o
So its a good thing that Gods mantion has many rooms so I can hide

Just to think I have to spend eternity with you guys & gals.. Oh man, I better re-think my position LOL just kidding.. No, hey in all seriousness, religion is a hard topic to discuss. If this was a political board, we would all argure over that, if this was a forum on abortion, we would argue over that, if this was a forum on the birds and bees we would probably argue over that. But, what sets (some of us) apart, we don't never let it get personal, no matter how deep they wanna cut. They were forgiven before the words even came onto the keyboard; I pray everyday, that my sins be forgiven, and that I forgive others. Each day I grow stronger in my faith, my conviction, and my position in the Lord. And I thank many people on here for that. Even some of the foolish comments I read here, allows me to be reassured in my own understanding.. Thanks guys.. Oh yeah... And gals

I've got to ask, was that random or is there a reason behind the choice of names? :D

Yeah.. I was wondering the same thing. Hey, does that mean I'm argumentive?

So, if anyone is ever around Detroit, drop me a line! I'd love to meet any of ya' all.

P.S. D46, can I bring my NIV? :-D

To be honest, I would probably be very awkward and quiet if we all got together. I am very clumsy of speech in a room filled, but a bit better in a one on one situation. If I know someone well, then I am able to form words that actually correlate with my thoughts. :-?

People like you amaze me, Javier, to be so outspoken. Many of you here seem to be like that. My husband has that quality, but he has no problem turning around if someone shows him the Word when he is in error. I admire the mixture of boldness, and humility....they harmonize well in his spirit. He has told me once that God has sent me to polish his corners.

I love all of you, even those non-trinitarians among us, and not just mutz, but especially mutz. I think I would ask you your advice on a good dog for our farm, Ed. We are considering the Australian Shepherd...which I believe orginates from California. :o

I think in Glory, when all the various parts of the body are there, we will finally be whole. We are still yet being formed as a bride I suppose.

Hey Jeff, I tend not to debate with you on here, and I don't know if you are a Tigers fan or not, but perhaps we would be debating in person about the series...GO CARDS! :-D Just joshin'.

It's nice to think about, the Lord bless all of you.

Sure, SB...bring it on!! I'll bring my King James and a few tracts from Jack Chick! :-D

I've been part of another forum for over 6 years and I've met several of the members in person. We used to try to plan yearly get-togethers. There have been times we've argueed on the forum, but in person, we got along great. There was only one person that I got along with great on the forum, but once i met her in person, she did nothing but whine and complain about every single thing in her life. Everyone else had the same impression of her after meeting her in person also.

I think the people on this forum would get along better in person than on the forum actually.

Well, Nikki-Didn't know you were a "Tar Heel"!! I grew up there but left 32 years ago...small world.

I am, I am! I've been here since I was 10 years old (1987). I consider NC "home". I've often talked about how I'd like to move other places, but I really do love NC. We've got access to the mountains AND the coast. Plus, I just like the "country" setting.

What part of NC did you live at?

Nikki-Move a little further west and you'd have the Smokies in your backyard...God's country for sure!
