What if...

I've been part of another forum for over 6 years and I've met several of the members in person. We used to try to plan yearly get-togethers. There have been times we've argueed on the forum, but in person, we got along great. There was only one person that I got along with great on the forum, but once i met her in person, she did nothing but whine and complain about every single thing in her life. Everyone else had the same impression of her after meeting her in person also.

I think the people on this forum would get along better in person than on the forum actually.
Did you ask that one person if she served Cheese with that "Whine"? :D

Sure, SB...bring it on!! I'll bring my King James and a few tracts from Jack Chick! :-D

Jack Chick??? Sounds kinda like a gal I dated back in hs :-? lol, just joking rofl. (don't take that seriously) In other words, never heard of the guy. Ever read any Von Rad or Breuggerman? Ralph Klien has some cool stuff too.

Hey Solo? Why do you think they'd use a rope? :-D

Oscar... we'll put you at the over flow table across the way. Don't worry, I think we'll still be able to HEAR YOU! lol :D

Hmm, lets see.... Javier, we'd surly have to go for a spin and talk some shop!

Nikki, I promise I won't do any whinning. ;-)

Destiny would sit right in the middle of us keeping us all in line with a vase of pretty flowers (within arms reach :-D ) and Vic would DJ the evening.

Lovely, why would I want to debate you? You own chickens! Have I told you that we just got our pig back? 230 lbs hanging (oops) a bit bigger than we like, but ummm umm good... Ohh! and our lamb... wow, it just melts in your mouth. You know how you are with your little candies

Atonment, I'm sure we could share a few stories. Hey, you like to arm wrestle? lol :robot:

I don't think I've forgotten anyone have I? Hey Spirit Driven, your welcome too. Just don't bring up any politics, I wouldn't want anything to get out of hand now, and you know how them democrates can be :-D

No, Solo-We're going to save you for the rack! :-D
Can I have a rack of pork ribs first?! (For all those who believe that they are the lost tribes of Israel, and to the Seventh Day Adventist, Armstrongians, Nazarene Ebionites, etc. etc.

And can I have them on Friday during lent for my Catholic buddys?)

:-D

How could I forget Francis,Xian and ZeroTX? I'd sit at their table  Hey, Both Zero and Francis have Camaro's!

Well, if you insist. We don't want to cull anybody. I'll bring some candles and incense as well.

Well D46, how about if we go to a well lit resturant that has good hygene? then we wouldn't need either :D

:D A valid point SB...yep, I'm bound to say it-a valid point. All that incense burning could give us cancer or cause us to have delusions about Marian apparitions.

I think if we were all in a room together, we would be more respectful and not be so open about things. It's easy to tell your true feelings behind a computer screen. A debatable discussion can be started on a forum and I've seen how easy some of the members throw out insults or appear to be angry. I don't think the insults would fly as easily in person.

I believe also that if we all could lighten up just a bit and not take everything said so seriously and begin to see a little humor in all this, maybe we could shut down at night and not have blood shot eyes and high blood pressure upon going to bed. Far too many take everything as a personal confrontation and an assault on them personally. Most of us just can't see or want to see a little humor in life. Think about it...what is all this going to matter in a few years? The bottom line is being with Christ throughout all eternity and let the cares and woes of this life pass us by...to include computer forums!

I would like to believe your right, but I have an idea that sombody would probably say something stupid and sombodies pride would get all swollen up and a yelling match or even a fight would break out... If sombody can't control their words here, then what makes you honestly think that they would keep their tounge in a public setting?

It's kinda sad huh?

But then, if I were in a group setting and Spirit Driven took offence in my joke (lets say that he didn't smile), my immediate response would have been, "Hey, I'm just kidding" with a smile on my face. But in fairness, I would take a joke from him in the same manner.

Anyway, I don't want to drag the thread down. You guys have a great weekend. Were having a hay ride at our house tomorrow evening and we've got 40 pumpkins for all the kids to paint in the pole barn.

It's a pot luck, so bring your own dish :D

Have fun and God bless everyone.

Jeff

Iguess my firewall is not allowing my computer to respond. Since I show a double post. :o

Hi Nikki,

This is actually my first post on this forum, I was at another forum and I felt so alienated when I gave my opinion on a thread that was about someone asking "What was the best liver cleanse" this person was planning on doing one and she wanted advice. Well I have been involved in detoxification for 6-7 years now and I provided the info. to the products I use and I was attacked by people on the board. I was a bit shaken by the aggressiveness and the arguing in many of the other threads as well. I didn't know what to do so I just left as of 3 days ago. I'm not the type to debate but when it comes to christianity I do speak out. Maybe I am too sensitive and I need to relax a bit, I haven't been posting on forums too long so the experience isn't their yet. It's been about 7 months when I first started posting on a secular forum than about 1 month ago I was at a christian forum that's the one I'm talking about. :crying:
I agree with you on the sensitive topics of Religion & Politics. I was a bit surprised though when I saw every denomination of christians arguing, Sigh! I have to say this that you do learn from one christian to another, discussions help you grow spiritually.
I'm 39 and I feel wanting to be mellow is best. :-?

Hi and Welcome! Oh, there are a god bit of "fights" here too, but I've got over 6 years of forum experience under my belt and I will say that every single forum I've been to (probably close to 100 that I've surfed in and out of) has been the same way. That's just what happens when you get different people with different beliefs together. You know it's time to back off and take a break when it makes you so mad that it's all you think about. There is a 99% chance that you'll never meet someone from a forum, so you shouldn't take things too personally.

I have had times that I've been attacked and I could feel myself getting very angry. It took a while for me to learn how to take a break and either come back to the topic with a cool head or stay out of it completely.

Forums are GREAT though! I love being here and talking with other people and learning about them.

Oh, Lord, to be 39 again! On second thought, I don't want to have to carry a stick again to keep the chicks away. I once couldn't wait to get up in the morning and look in the mirror as I got better looking each day!:-D

Hi

I agree, but when you get upset with the sarcasm sometimes you jump right in there. I actually did just that "stood out of it completely" that's why I'm here. I started to respond to the last person who commented and as I was typing, I don't know what happened but everything got deleted. I just assumed God was telling me to not bother with it so I said I'm done.
I actually like the Forums as well it is fun and you learn about others and or more about the topic your discussing.
