What is Salvation?

It's not that I don't WANT to speak to you about it...it's that I don't have much to say.

Some believe the wedding feast is a literal feast where all will be invited. I think this is not true.

The wedding banquest is a parable of how God invited persons to His Kingdom but they did not want to enter; that would be the Jews. So then He invited others, just like Jesus had other sheep, those would be the Gentiles.

But they had to be properly dressed. They had to dress themselves, I don't agree with ezrider that God dressed them. The ones who were not properly dressed were banished from the banquet...the proper dress is Jesus.

I do believe I've already posted this...
To me the New Jerusalem is the New Earth that will be renewed by God and will be sans the evil one -- at the end of the world.

It's this simple for me. I aim to keep it simple...

We are basically on the same page. It all comes to being clothed in God's righteousness :)

Why it is a great mystery, but none the less it is so: Lively stones built upon a sure foundation!

The great mystery in Ephesians 5:32 is not the marriage, but the relationship between Christ and the church being the body of Christ of whom He being the foundation we are to build upon.

The great mystery is in fact about the marriage, but as you stated in post #41 you have not yet been called to the marriage. If you have not yet been called to the marriage, then how should you presume to know the depths of the mystery when you state here that the marriage isn't about the marriage? for the two shall be one flesh.

Ephesians 5:31
For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.

The New Jerusalem is the Bride, the Lamb's WIFE. We are lively stones built into a Spiritual house upon a sure foundation.

1 Peter 2:4-6
To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious, Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ. Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded.

Revelation 3:12
Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name.

Revelation 21:9-10
And there came unto me one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will shew thee the bride, the Lamb's wife. And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God,

So EZ, following your train of thought...
If the wedding garment is something we are given...
and those not wearing it were banished from the wedding feast....

It means GOD CHOSE who would be dressed properly and who not? It means GOD banished those HE did not want at the wedding feast.

Is my deduction correct?

Exactly what is it that you are trying to deduce? That the Lord God is the Judge?

Those whom are written in the Lamb's book of life are not banished anywhere, for they are the holy city.

EZ, you'd have to read post. no. 100 again.

You asked me why God was mad at Jonah.
I said I don't know.
I know the above verses...
But WHY was God mad at him?
What does it have to do with our discussion?

I did not ask you why God was mad a Jonah. Jonah was the one mad at God. I asked you the reason the Lord gave Jonah for sparing Nineveh.

But they had to be properly dressed. They had to dress themselves, I don't agree with @ezrider that God dressed them.

Revelation 2:17
He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.

Revelation 3:5
He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.

Revelation 6:11
And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled.

Revelation 7:9-10
After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands; And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb.

Revelation 19:7-8
Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.

How can you put on something for yourself that has not been granted to you?

It's this simple for me. I aim to keep it simple...

How much simpler can it be than just accepting what is already written. It really takes no more than that.

Revelation 21:2
And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

Seems pretty simple to me as it is written: the Bride, the Lamb's wife is that great city, the new Jerusalem.

EZ, you really confuse me.
YOU said that GOD dresses those at the wedding feast.
This means HE chooses those that are properly dressed.
YOU are saying this, not me.

So tell me where I'm NOT understanding you...

I did not ask you why God was mad a Jonah. Jonah was the one mad at God. I asked you the reason the Lord gave Jonah for sparing Nineveh.
And I said I didn't know.
Is it because Jonah felt bad for some animals so God had the right to spare Nineveh because of all the people that lived there?

Revelation 2:17

How can you put on something for yourself that has not been granted to you?
God grants to EVERYONE the opportunity to sit at the wedding feast. He reveals Himself to all mankind.
Romans 1:19-20

Then it's up to each one of us INDIVIDUALLY to get that proper clothing and put it on. Is the proper clothing Jesus?
Is Jesus not available to everyone?

Revelation 2:17 which you posted, plainly says that he who overcomes will be saved. Do WE do the overcoming,,,or does God do the overcoming for us?

I hear say that it's God that does everything. If that's the case, then HE makes us sin too and thus should not hold us responsible for it.

You confuse me as to your beliefs. This was the only reason I had asked if you were calvinist in theology....

IOW, Do WE have any part in our salvation?

I just don't know enough about this.

To me the bride is the Body of Christ....the Church of those that believed in Jesus and followed Him.

The New Jerusalem is the new earth as it will be without satan ruling it.

John saw visions....he mixed the New J. with the bride...I don't know if he meant it literally.

I don't confuse you; you confuse yourself because you appear to try to relate everything to the doctrines of men. Are the doctrines of men the foundation you stand upon?

You seem to resist the idea that the Lord God can choose whom he will. Do you not have faith in His correct Judgement?

And I said I didn't know.
Is it because Jonah felt bad for some animals so God had the right to spare Nineveh because of all the people that lived there?

Have you actually read any of the scripture that I have posted in this thread? I get the idea that you have not.

Actually, I'm with wondering here. I haven't picked it up where you answered her question either.

Let me ask you this. What do you make of Rev 21:2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.

I take this to say the New Jerusalem that will be ushered down from heaven is the tabernacle of God, not the bride. Within all its beauty that John further describes within the tabernacle is likened to that of a beautiful bride who adorns herself for her husband. When I read further down about the size of this city being 1377 miles in length and breadth and the building of it will all the precious stones and gates etc. etc. it leads me to believe it is going to be a place here on a renewed earth where we will dwell with the Lord forever.
