Hello VictorMedvil.I wanted to know from Christians what sin is and the biblical definitions of it, could you tell me more about what is considered sin and not?
In Hebrew, the word for sin means "missing the obejctive", specifically missing the destination of your journey, either you intentionally deviate from your course or you unintentionally get lost. Sin is usually divided into seven interwoven categories commonly known as the seven deadly sins - Envy, Gluttony, Greed, Lust, Pride, Sloth, Wrath, of which pride is the biggest and the original sin, this is the kind of sin that rejects God's way and exalts yourself as God, all other sins are stemmed from pride.I wanted to know from Christians what sin is and the biblical definitions of it, could you tell me more about what is considered sin and not?
The real question is, does sin exist? People don't believe sin exist anymore, most believe in God, many believe in Jesus as the only way to God, but very few believe the sinful nature of mankind. The thing is, if there's no sin, then there's no need for Christ who died for our sin. As Jesus himself said: "Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick."Why do you ask about definitions of sin?
I use John's definition of sin, from 1 John 5:17..."All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death."I wanted to know from Christians what sin is and the biblical definitions of it, could you tell me more about what is considered sin and not?

Sin is the breaking of the 10 Commandments per 1 John 3:4.I wanted to know from Christians what sin is and the biblical definitions of it, could you tell me more about what is considered sin and not?
Hey All,Sin is the breaking of the 10 Commandments per 1 John 3:4.
We know Jesus was 100% sinless because He created (Jn. 1:3), taught (Matt. 5:19-20; 23:1-3) and obeyed the 10 Commandments (John 15:10).
We can verify this by the record of His closest followers obeying the 10 Commandments after His death on the Cross. (Luke 23:54-56) They understood perfectly what He expected of Christians and the fact that we have John reiterating the definition of sin in 1 Jn. 3:4, we know that Christians are expected to follow Christ's example in obedience to the 10 Commandments.
God bless.
Nobody has to obey them perfectly, Jesus did that for us. His Spirit lives within us if we are True Christians and enables and inspires us to obey, just as He did, all 10 Commandments. When we stumble, James 3:2 covers that. We get up, dust ourselves, confess, ask forgiveness and repent and resume the walk. We are to walk and live just as Jesus did if we profess to belong to Him. (1 Jn. 2:6)Hey All,
When do we break the 10 commandments F345T?
No question Jesus was perfect. He set the goal.
Matthew 5:48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.
That is what I strive for. But in the flesh, I will never reach it. I do believe that my new creature has been cleaned from all unrighteousness. But that doesn't always stop my flesh from sinning.
Notice in 1 John 2:1, John is addressing believers. "My little children . . ."
If anyone could write the formula for being perfect, It would be second only to the Bible in sales.
How do I stop myself from an impure thought?
You can have one in the twinkling of an eye. Once it happens I am no longer perfect.
That is the sin. Long before I ever act on the thought, even if I can stop the action, I still have sinned. Adultery is a sin. Jesus said that to look upon a woman with lust is commiting adultery. What man hasn't done that? That is how most relationships start in our society.
I try to do the best I can. And I like to believe I have gotten better as I have matured in Christ. But I have not reached sinless perfection. I made a mistake earlier today in which I had to ask forgiveness. Somebody took something I wrote the wrong way. It was totally my fault. It was also completely unintended. But I made it.
As I have said before in other posts, I believe God allows us to keep our sin nature for His purposes. We, as believers, have experienced the Agape love of God. That is His grace toward us. Agape is unachievable in the flesh. But, as believers, when we forgive others, we get a brief taste of what Agape is. It is the ultimate proof we are abiding in Christ.
Anyway, I have rambled enough.
Keep walking everybody.
May God bless,
Taz
I pretty much agree with all the above, in which people are saying that sin is an action against God's moral will. I would like to add one more usage of the word: in Rom 7:14 the apostle Paul writes, "For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin." In this case, he is using the term "sin" as a principle in operation in people, whereby they are unable to fully comply with God's moral will all the time. In other words, no one is perfect (except for Jesus, who committed no sin - Heb. 4:15).I wanted to know from Christians what sin is and the biblical definitions of it, could you tell me more about what is considered sin and not?
