What is the point of following Christ?

I follow Jesus Christ because He unconditionally loves me.It is rare or impossible to find a human who will do this.I follow Jesus because His is compassionate. He has changed my life and is in the process of changing me from the inside to the outside.

I follow Jesus as when I was at my lowest hitting rock bottom He heard the cries of my despair and rescued me.

I really like this answer and agree.

Jesus Christ is the true image of God, as in His Character. This True Image of God sent by God reveals a self sacrificing Love even unto death, even while forgiving those who crucify him. Obviously, since God sent a true image of Himself to believe in, we were therefore corrupted in our wills by a false image upon which we reasoned right and wrong, which also corrupted the moral spirit in our souls. We therefore needed a True image of God to replace the false image we before believed in. The word Christ/Messiah actually means the True Image of God sent by God.

I started following Christ to avoid going to Hell, but that's not my reason any more. God is my creator and that's enough reason to follow Him. King David once wrote...

For a day in your courts is better
than a thousand elsewhere.
I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God
than dwell in the tents of wickedness.
(Ps. 84:10 ESV)

I don't deserve any reward from God, nor do I need the promise of reward to follow Him. If I never get to be more than a doorkeeper in God's house, then that's enough.

I tried I really tried.
Its very simple actually....God said that Jesus Christ died for our sins, was buried, and rose again the third day. Jesus Christ has already done what was needed to be done. There isn't anything you can do about justifying yourself before God, you have already been declared guilty....But Jesus Christ paid that for you :)

I accepted Christ at the age of 8.
When I was 17 I asked God to not let me die without knowing Him.
My love for God is very passionate. I LOVE Him.
He has been so merciful in my life.
So, you could say my reason for loving God for what Jesus did in my place.- that I receive God's love.
(I am trying to follow God in my flesh too by the Spirit. My love for God is way more than that though. I am trying to match my walk with Jesus. Not always successful. Seems I fall everyday.)

Rom 8:8 - So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.
Rom 8:13 - For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.

You are killing your functional Christian Life by trying to follow "in the flesh". God has Made you dead to sin, dead to law, alive unto God, and you should walk in newness of spirit. :)

Theres nothing that needs to be done? Except reading the bible, praying, worshipping god, fellowshipping, repenting, resisting temptation, loving your enemies , fasting, charity, living righteously and much much more, but please don't say to me or anyone else that we must do those things but at the same time we don't have to.

Matthew 25:31-40 are the works of Christ that he left for us to continue in as we walk in the greatest commandment of love towards one another. Within these works we witness to others that unconditional love of Christ that He showed us when we first accepted Him as Lord and Savior. We study the Bible as our instruction manual, but we seek His face daily to truly feel and understand His love and compassion as Jesus was the final offering for all our sin that we have been found guilty, but now are reconciled and blameless before the Father. To me this is the point of following Christ that I can be counted worthy of His grace and mercy.

I first did it out of fear of damnation and a search for the truth. But now its more like the only truth. And I don't want to be how I was. A greater truth was revealed to me about life and the meaning of life.
